Hasegawa 1903 Wright Flyer 1 - 1/16 Scale Museum Model, 1/16, ZX4-26800

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

Sold

Rare and large 1/16 scale museum quality kit. The four aircraft in this series (Wright Flyer, Fokker DR-1, Sopwith Camel and SE-5 Scout) are widely considered to be the finest model aircraft ever produced. This kit duplicates the world's first controllable powered aircraft using many of the original material in a near perfect representation of the inner structure of the aircraft. There are 303 parts made from die-cut plywood, Japanese cypress, cast soft metal, copper, rubber, brass, injection molded plastic and still other materials. Unlike the other three kits, this model can have the interior framework covered as the real aircraft or it can remain uncovered. Includes a Wright Brother pilot and display stand. The wingspan is 765mm (over 30 inches) when assembled. The engineering of the kit is world-class right down to the assembly plans. This kit has never been started. All parts are still in still in the factory sealed bags. This kit was packed very carefully from the factory and all special internal boxes and inserts are included and in mint condition. Complete with instructions and roll-out plans. Please note, this item must be shipped fully insured.

Fire Force South African Defense Force Eland 90 Armoured Car, 1/35

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

Very rare. Nicely molded high-definition resin kit with very good overall detail. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. Painting and insignia details are included. The Eland was the standard armoured car of the SADF and was originally developed as an improved Panhard. The Panhards were almost completely unsatisfactory; South Africa rebuilt them, gaining valuable experience along the way. When replacements were needed, they produced the local Eland series. This was one of the first all-South African manufacturing and design programs to be undertaken after WW2. Elads were superbly suited to the terrain and tactics of the SADF and proved their worth over and over in combat. Rhodesian operated them also.

Aurora Messerschmitt Me-109 Famous Fighters of All Nations - (Bf-109) - Yellow Box Ends, 1/48, 55A-69

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

I believe this is the 4th edition of this kit, and the first issue with this Jim Cox boxart. Most likely from 1955/56 with small 'Aurora Line' rectangular logo and 'Famous Fighters of All Nations.' Correctly molded in metallic burgundy and clear with the correct rectangular clear stand. For this issue the factory changed the swastikas on the tail to iron crosses and decals as well. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The instructions are 'excellent +' condition with very little yellowing and just at touch of edge wear; the decals are a surprising 'very good++' with only a slight twist and yellowing. It is interesting that the Me-109 never carried the standard Aurora 'Northern Lights' logo for 1956.

After a remarkable 16 patrols, the boat was depth charged and sunk with all hands in the Bay of Biscay 16 August 1944, by Sunderland EJ150 of 201 Squadron.

AAC Supply Company Eaglerock Bullet American Air Cadets Official Construction Kit - 33 Inch Wingspan Flying Aircraft

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Very, very rare and from around 1930/32. American Air Cadets was one of the early national flying model clubs, and the magazine "Popular Aviation" was their official publication. Kit features bamboo and balsa construction and includes all required strip wood, bamboo, spars, balsa blocks, covering tissue, construction plans (which lists the model as 1/4 the size of the actual aircraft), a large sheet of color insignia, a beautiful machine-carved prop, fully formed wooden wheels, clear window material and even a mail-in form appealing to "All American Air Cadets Should subscribe for and read their official publication Popular Aviation." Never started and includes all items described, which I believe makes it complete (early kits were notorious for making you scratch build things from your own materials -this one is unusually complete). These kits seldom show up but there is some debate about the age; some have quoted 'late 1930s.' By the late 30s, bamboo had been replace completely by balsa. Furthermore, full-size plans were in vogue. The composite construction, complete lack of printwood and the tiny plans for such a large model (requiring the builder to personally scale them up from dimensions only) is directly in line with the late 1920s and early 1930s. The age of this kit is verified by urging that "From your fertile minds will come secrets at last of SAFE and sustained flight that will make man free as the birds and of course more mighty." The cost of one year was $1.75. POPULAR AVIATION was started in August 1927 by airplane fan William B. Ziff (of Ziff-Davis Magazines). Under Editor Harley W. Mitchell it became the largest aviation magazine with a circulation of 100,000 in 1929. The magazine's title became AERONAUTICS in June 1929, but was changed back to POPULAR AVIATION in July 1930. The magazine became FLYING in 1942, and is still published today by Hachette Filipacchi Media. [Source: Michael Holley in Wikipedia]
