Aurora Boeing P-26A Peashooter, 1/43, 115-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Early 1950s first issue with old 'Aurora Line' rectangular logo. This kit was issued shortly after moving to the West Hempstead facility on Long Island. Molded in the correct glossy light blue and clear with the early style Aurora rectangular stand, correct Tatem Company decals and the correct instructions. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The box is only 'good' and has wear on the top as shown and a very small litho pull from the factory sealing tape located on the long lower side.

Aurora Republic P-47 D Thunderbolt, 1/53, 81-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+

Sold

Factory sealed and rare in this condition. Dated 1964 but most likely from about 1965/66. From ex-Comet molds. Comet was an early kit manufacture that produced a nice line of small and mid-scale civil and military kits before selling the molds to Aurora. For many kits, Comet cut both small scale and medium to large scale molds. This is the larger of the two P-47 molds by Comet and it features all recessed panel lines and the aircraft is in 'in flight' configuration.

Revell 1913 Mercedes Factory Display - Built Up With Base - Highway Pioneers, 1/32

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

This is a Revell-factory built display made for hobby shop promotional use around 1954. The intention was simple- if hobby shops would purchase and display these attractively built displays, potential buyers would see them and immediately purchase the kit. This probably worked well; but the hitch was that these displays were expensive for the 1950s, so few hobby shops could afford them. And once in public, there was heavy attrition; parts easily broke, and when the new kits came out next year, they were thrown away to make room for more. Which makes condition of this one even more exceptional. The actual model is very neatly built and Revell factory airbrushed. You can always tell the Revell-built models by the airbrushing and the way the parts were masked. It is 100% complete and has no breaks and no repairs. Even the base is in very good condition. However, 1/2 of the paper nameplate is missing as well as the clear cover. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys.

Adams 280mm Atomic Cannon With 2 Gun Transporters - (M56), 1/40, K153-398

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+++

Sold

Very rare and even more so in this condition. Classic Cold-War kit from the late 1950s. The Atomic Cannon was the Army's 20 mile range gun that could fire shells with small atomic bombs inside them. Very highly detailed for the time and features transporters with movable wheels, towing yokes, fully detailed cab interiors & complete suspension, elevating and swiveling machine guns; the Atomic Cannon itself can be configured for firing or towing positions, the barrel elevates by real operating gears, the carriage rotates 360 degrees on platform and it actually fires 2 "Atomic" shells. Includes crew of 7. Inside, the model is factory new. It has never been started and includes the original cardboard dividers. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the factory sealed bags; the parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete. With decals and instructions. The decals are absolutely flat and in remarkable 'near mint' condition; yellowing is the only flaw. The instructions are also in 'near mint' condition. The box has like-new color and gloss, no rips and no missing litho. However, it does have light general wear and very light age foxing on the far right. One corner had a closed split but it has been correctly and very neatly repaired from the inside with light cardstock and book binding glue. The two original price tags on on each short end. There is no tape on the box, but there are small areas of tape residue on the sides; you have to look closely to see it.

NOTE: the instructions have some bug damage on the surface (not all the way through) of the cover page. The decals have bug damage to the backing paper only; they did not damage the actual transfers. The box may display slightly better than 'good' but is rated as such because of the litho chip at the upper right hand corner as shown and very similar chips on the three lower side corners.
