Fador 1905 REO Runabout, 1/16

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Sold

SALE!! Rare kit dated 1949. Very well detailed for that time. Big-scale model features numerous die-cut, machined and saw-cut wooden parts, excellent plastic wheels, grill, steering wheel, lanterns and horn, other metal parts and metal stock and die-cut cardstock parts. Come with superb, large fold out plans that show four elevations drawings, many various detail drawings, a photo of the finished model and extensive text instructions. The kit has never been started. Inventoried complete with all parts. Please note, there are adult notes written on the plans to improve the accuracy of the model. The owner of these kits was a keen researcher and actually won a Hudson Miniature Old Timers Model Building Competition. Fador was another maker of big 1/16 classic cars and competed with the bigger Hudson Miniatures. Fador called the line 'Smallersters' and the design & parts breakdown of the kits are very similar. The full name was Fador Mfg. Company and the address was 501E. Clinton St., Elmira, NY. Hudson Miniatures, launched in 1948, apparently beat Fador to the market by at least a year or more. Hudson's national success probably lead Fador to choose the same subject (antique cars) and in the same scale, 1/16. Hudson snatched up the most obvious classic automobiles for kit subjects, forcing Fador to select very carefully. Fortunately, they chose well and they are still the only models ever made of these subjects. There is no record of Fador making any plastic kits; the introduction and overwhelming popularity of the Revell/Gowland Highway Pioneers and the models that quickly followed probably drove them out of the market. This was the fate of most wooden kit manufacturers who did not make the transition.

Monogram The Big Rod Custom Ford T Bucket Show Go Roadster, 1/8, PC85-1098

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

Rare, original issue from 1963 and in one-owner, never started condition. In the early 1960s Monogram invested in a series of huge 1/8 scale models with extraordinary detail and working features. The complete line consisted of the Big 'T' Street/Rod, Big Drag Competition Roadster, Big Rod Show/Go Roadster (this kit), Big Tub Custom Phaeton and this Big Deuce '32 Ford Roadster. The Big T molds alone cost over $100,000 to produce - an absolute fortune at the time. The design work alone for the molds was $40,000. The total cost of the complete 1/8 scale project was over $1,000,000 - in 1963 money. The result was nearly flawless, large American automotive models that has never been equaled to this day. The Big Rod has 192 precision parts from numerous standard automobiles and custom parts. Features rolling chassis build up like the actual automobile, complete suspension, driveline and unique exhaust system, custom radius rods, dropped front end, tubular front axle, detailed brake backing plates, suicide spring perch, working steering with all linkage, highly detailed engine with 6 carburetors, finned valve covers, clear fuel lines, rubber hoses and all ignition wires, winged Moto-Meter, complete interior with simulated upholstery, bench seat, Cadillac steering wheel,, floor shift, Stewart-Warner Instruments, overhand pedals, real cloth seat belts with chrome buckles, optional position convertible top, windshield supports, plated oval gas tank with platform, Halibrand Quick-Change Rear End, highly realistic white wall slicks and tires, mag racing wheels and much more. Even includes exhibition accessories including easel with printed display poster for this car, two jack stands, a full chrome tool set, three flares, first aid kit and trophy. The box is complete but has wear as shown. Inside the kit almost factory-new. It has never been started. It has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. All the original factory cardboard display material and even the original chrome packing material is present- the lower tissue and all the clear 'separator' sections used between each part tree. The model is molded in the correct colors - high gloss yellow, clear, black, ivory, chrome plate and with rubber whitewall tires. The yello plastic is brilliant, glossy and deep...it looks like paint, but it is not. There are 6 big trees of chrome parts; 5 of them are in 'near mint' condition. The top tree chrome is 'very good++' as there is light spotting (luckily, this is the brake drum tree). Even includes the Big Rod Guarantee sheet shown at the right. Instructions are in superb "excellent++" condition and the decals are flat, intact and graded 'very good++.'
