Revell USS Missouri Battleship - Pre-S Wide Box Issue, 1/535, H301-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

1954 second Pre-S release in the wider box. The earlier (1st) Pre-S release is in the narrow packaging. Fantastic box condition with excellent color and gloss, four solid corners, and no price tags, tape or tag/tape marks. Second release of these molds. The kit has never been started. Inside it is like new with the small parts still sealed in the factory bag. Includes flag sheet and instructions. The Missouri was the first model that Revell cut it's own molds for. Previous to this, Revell marketed kits from other companies who cut the molds themselves, such as the Highway Pioneers from Gowland & Gowland or the Adams military models. It is said that the Missouri was the most profitable kit that Revell ever produced.

Pyro Auburn 1935 Supercharged 851 Boattail Speedster, 1/25, 228

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Rare true first issue with the 'black' box style and beautiful art. The '35 Auburn weighed 4200 lbs. and was one of the few cars of that time to have hydraulic brakes. Power came from a 150hp (@4000) supercharged engine with three inch exhaust pipes that easily sped the car to over 100 mph. Ab Jenkins set a record with a stock issue 851 at Bonneville Salt Flats in July of 1935, and became the first one to pilot a stock car for over 12 hours at an average of over 100 mph. Molded in gloss deep red plastic. Features detailed engine, hinging/opening hood and good interior detail. Never started. The parts are all still factory sealed in the original 'krinkle' bag. With instructions. This was one of Pyro's first car kits. On the side, there are color illustrations of the Lincoln Continental, Duesenburg Roadster J, Cord Convertible and Pierce Silver Arrow. Interestingly, the Duesenburg and Pierce Arrow in 1/24 scale were projected; for one reason or another Pyro never cut the molds so they were never issued.

Lindberg Sea Raider (Q-Ship - Decoy Ship) (AK-101 USS ATIK), 1/390, 731-69

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

Sold

Very rare hardbox issue from the late 1950s. Classic kit with Ray Gaedke artwork. This is the Lindberg Q Ship, which has an unknown prototype but is suppose to be a WWI style Q-Ship submarine trap. The ship appears to be a WWI British Q Ship by the title, yet looks a little modern and has US numbers of 171, which apparently mean nothing. The Lindberg model actually has the layout of the AK-101 USS ATIK, which was formerly the SS-CAROLYN, built in 1912. The CAROLYN was recommissioned as the USS ATIK and at the start of WWI which was a real US Q-ship. The box is in fantastic 'near mint' condition with like-new color and gloss, four solid corners and very little wear. This kit has never been started. It has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Revell A3D Skywarrior (A-3) - 'S' Issue, 1/84, H241-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM-

Sold

First issue with great "S" artwork. Dated 1956. The box is in investment-grade condition with perfect color and gloss. The only thing keeping it from being mint is a very small dish in on the left side edge and very slight, isolated edge wear. Features folding wings and horizontal stabilizer, rotating and elevating rear gun turret, optional position landing gear, speed brakes & escape hatch, three crew figures and more. Includes the famous clear Revell 'Globe' stand. Never started. 100% inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions present.

Revell F-105B Thunderchief - 'S' Issue, 1/75, H285-89

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

Sold

1958 first issue with dramatic hardbox artwork. Fantastic box in near-mint, investment-grade condition with like-new color and gloss and four solid corners. Never started. 100% inventoried complete with all parts/decals and instructions present.

Aurora Lockheed F-90 Brooklyn - Famous Fighters Of All Nations, 1/48, 33-89

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

Very rare and correct Brooklyn hardbox issue. This is the second issue of this kit - the first was in a rather plain flip-top box. The box is very good with typical wear as shown and all four corners are solid. Inside, the kit is 100% correct for this issue. It is molded in gray and does not have landing gear or missiles. Decals and instructions are correct as well as the early clear rectangular stand. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. When Aurora issued it's first two plastic kits, they were copies of the Hawk Model Company's F9F and F-90 fighters. Reportedly, Hawk was not happy about this and there were some words exchanged at some hobby trade shows. Hawk attempted to hide it's name - one example was using rivets to spell H-A-W-K in morse code to prevent further use of it's designs. Fortunately, the incident was not repeated.

Monogram Air Force Patrol - B-66 Skywarrior (A-3A) / C-47 Skytrain / SA-16B Albatross Gift Set, MGP7-349

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM++

Sold

Very rare. Monogram did not issue many gift sets. To make matters more interesting, the ones they issued were very short lived. Many were simply sets of models in sleeves with no dedicated boxes. By 1960, the Monogram Gift sets were no more. This gift set, the Air Force patrol, is interesting because it's not just a sleeve; it has a dedicated box designed for this gift set. It is the one and only issue, dated 1957. The condition is investment grade; the box has no more wear than when it was removed from the shipping carton. The colors and gloss are as new with minor edge wear as the only flaw. Inside, the three kits are still individually factory sealed, including the tube of Monoglue. Also includes the original "Monogram Model Merry Christmas" box wrapper, also in fantastic condition - these seldom survived the opening of the kit. Overall, a hard-to-find kit in factory new condition.

Due to the popularity, subjects were still being released into the 1960s. Molded in glossy olive green and black. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
