1956 early issue molded in gloss white plastic. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys.

Fine Molds Kawasaki Ki-100-I Tony - (Ki100I), 1/72, FP2

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Rare kit of the non-air cooled Tony. Many Ki-100 aircraft sat engineless, so the Kawasaki design team successfully change the fuselage to fit the HA-112 air cooled engine. Although slightly slower, the new Ki-100 was lighter, had a better rate of climb and was better balanced, holding its own in dogfights with P-51Ds or Hellcats. Only 390 units were made. The kit features all fine recessed panel lines, cast metal gear struts and cockpit details, wheel well detail, drop tank, seated and standing pilot figures and decals for two different aircraft. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

Sold

Very nicely molded and details. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. With the Fl 283, the Fa 223 can claim to be the world's first successful operating production helicopter. Professor Focke's 1937 helicopter was very successful; his follow on was the Fa 223. The type was accepted into production after extensive testing and deliveries were to made in 1944. The first bombing raid destroyed V4 through V10; production was moved and V12 through V17 left the production line. Further bombing attacks halted production. Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

1976 issue. This kit is important because Revell was thoughtful enough to alter the venerable PT-17 molds to make a real Super Stearman. Includes new cowling/engine, scoops as required and more. This may be the only issue of the Super Stearman in this scale. Revell issued three of these 'Airshow' style kits in this year H664, H665 and H666. Each contained two aircraft and a color diorama base, backdrop and special stand. If you have all three kits, the three bases fit together to make a large Air Show diorama with all six aircraft. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.
