Monogram Curtiss P-40 Warhawk Superkit, 1/54, T6

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

Very rare multi-media 'plastic and pre-carved wood' kit. Before there were injection molded plastic kits, model builders worked in wood or metal. Advanced companies, like Monogram, saw the advantage of plastic and began marketing kits with plastic details and fully-carved fuselage, wings, etc. This beautiful kit is one the highest quality composite static kits from the early to mid 1950s. Includes finished wings with airfoil, completely carved fuselage, colored die-cut wooden parts, plastic canopy, pilot, headrest, tail wheel, prop, cowling and more. The model has not been started. Inventoried and NOTE: missing one part, the pitot tube. Otherwise includes all other parts, decals and instructions. Please NOTE that the box looks much better than 'very good+' but is graded as such because the original hobby shop stamped their name on the box. Look just below the P-40 exhaust stacks and you will see "Handicraft Supplies" in a faint rubber stamp.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

This kit is part of a very famous World War II action kit line that Monogram issued in 1/48 scale. Very nicely molded kit. Features retractable landing gear, pilot and rotating props and wheels. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. NOTE: the decals are intact and flat but have visible age micro-cracking.

Monogram Curtiss P-36A Hawk (Model 75) - White Box Issue, 1/72, 6790

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

1979 issue and a very finely molded and detailed kit in the traditional Monogram style. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The Hawk P-36A has the dubious distinction of fighting on both sides and for more countries than any other plane in history during the opening years of WWII. This Hawk, one in a long progression of famous fighter aircraft, was the winner of a 1935 competition. The USAA Corps received the first aircraft in April of 1938 and the French ordered 100 aircraft in May of the same year. French Hawks shot down just over 30 German planes during the battle for France. The Germans captured the aircraft and sold them to Finland. Others were captured when the Germans overran Norway. In all over 800 Hawks were produced and served in China, Netherlands East Indies, Portugal, Great Britain, Thailand, Argentina and Peru. Although an excellent fighter in 1935, the Hawk was outclassed by the time the war started but when flown properly still gave a good account of itself.

Revell Trabant 601S Trabbi, 1/24, 7334

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

1990 issue of this infamous automobile. Nicely done with 60 parts, full interior, separately molded suspension, rotating wheels, luggage rack, excellent decals and more. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: the thin top frame has closed splits (like most of these kits) but all parts are still attached. This is most easily repaired by installing the roof, then gluing the frame parts to the underside of the roof. This serves to automatically align everything and reinforce it. From Wikipedia: The Trabant is an automobile which was produced from 1957 to 1990 by former East German car manufacturer VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau. It is often seen as symbolic of the former East Germany and the collapse of the Eastern Bloc in general. The Trabant had a duroplast body mounted on a one-piece steel chassis (a so-called unibody), front-wheel drive, a transverse engine, and independent suspension- unusual features in 1957 but it remained much the same until 1989 when it acquired a (licensed) Volkswagen engine; its discontinuation followed in 1991. The 1980s model had no tachometer, no indicator for either the headlights or turn signals, no fuel gauge, no rear seat belts, and no external fuel door, and drivers had to pour a mix of gasoline and oil directly under the bonnet/hood (yes, that is right, it's a car with a two cycle engine). Called "a spark plug with a roof," 3,096,999 Trabants in a number of models were produced over nearly three decades with few significant changes in their basic design. It took up to 10 years to acquire your new Trabant; if you did not want to wait, a second-hand one cost your double what a brand new one cost. The Trabant's build quality was poor, reliability was terrible, closer inspection revealed "patchy assembly quality", with an atrocious maintenance record. According to automotive journalist Doug DeMuro, the Trabant was loud, slow, poorly designed, and badly built.
