AMT 1958 Edsel 2 Door Hardtop Promo, 1/25

Plastic Model Kit

Sold

Rare. Original dealer promotional model in very nice condition. It is 100% complete. This is a one-owner model that has always been adult owned. It has the all-metal black chassis with the following text paint on in white - "In The Medium Price Field, The One That's Really New Is The Lowest Price Too! 1958 Edsel" The friction motor was removed. The tires are factory new - it has never been played with and never exposed to smoke. For this model, the body is 'very good' and has slight warping. The two tone body color is in 'very good++' condition. Chrome is good and has fading on the top like usual; the clear is like new. Some of the fine trim (door handles etc) has been painted to 'professional' quality; it is good enough to pass for factory paint.

Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.
