This is the 1994 reissue that duplicated the box art of the original issue exactly. This model is famous for it's many action features: the wings fold properly as on the real aircraft, landing gear retracts, bomb bay doors open and torpedo drops, machine gun rotates and elevates, and the prop and wheels turn. Still factory sealed. This rare issue was is directly from the collection of the original owner, who purchased it in the very early 1960s. The Type 2 logo paper header is in 'Excellent' condition. Molded in the correct light gray plastic with a clear canopy & windows and the early, two-piece clear Airfix 'teardrop-base' stand. Airfix's second logo for plastic models is known among collectors as the 'Type Two' or 'T2' logo and was used from the late 1950s into the early 1960s.

Still factory sealed and from 1974. It is a well detailed, large 1/32 scale kit of this British night fighter with airborne interception radar. The Beaufighter was flown by aces such like Flt./Lt. "Cat's Eyes" Cunningham, whose markings are included. His final score stood at 20 victories and his aircraft is depicted in this model. The kit features detailed Bristol Hercules engines, removable cowling, two flight crew, optional position landing gear, full crew cockpits and radar antenna. My friend and model builder Stephen Payne high recommends that the purchaser of any Beaufighter Night Fighter model invests in a copy of the book "Night Fighter" by C.F. Rawnsley. Rawnsley was John Cunningham's Airborne Intercept radar operator throughout WWII in both Beaufighters and Mosquitoes. The book is the story of their time and combat together and makes excellent reading.

1964 hardbox first issue and part of a very successful 1/48 scale line of World War II kits that Monogram issued in the 1960s.
