Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The DC-2 story is so long and interesting that it cannot be fully told here. In short, not only did all of the major US airlines (Delta, TWA, Eastern, American, PAA, GAL, etc.) equip their fleets with DC-2s, but thanks to the clever Dutchman Anthony Fokker, it invaded the European market as well (KLM, CSA, LOT, LAPE, Aero O/Y, Swissair...) and many more were passed to South American subsidiaries (Panagra, SCADTA) and were sold in Asia (CNAC, Dai Nippon, Tata, and more). The DC-2 was the first aircraft to introduce US preeminence in air transport. When Douglas launched the DC-3 (an improved DC-2), the DC-2 found employment in second and third level lines. Some served in the Spanish Civil War as bombers and transports in a variety of paint schemes ranging from the bright pre-war colors and markings to camo. The RAF used the DC-2 to resupply Habbaniya Flying School when it was besieged by Iraqi force in 1941. USAAC and KNILM used DC-2s to evacuate the East Indies refugees to Australia. Australia (RAAF) used them to train parachutist...and so much more that it cannot be mentioned here. After WWII the DC-2 slowly faded away from commercial use, but at least one example is flyable today and five are preserved in museums.

Still factory sealed and from high quality Monogram molds. In 1966 Hertz and Shelby teamed up to make make and rent one of the fastest rental cars of all time - the Shelby GT-350H. The cars became the stuff of legends. Want-to-be racers would rent the car Friday night, swap out rear ends and other bolt-on modifications, race them Saturday & Sunday and return the car to stock (to Hertz) on Sunday. The Hertz "Rent-A-Racer" was not financially successful due to the high maintenance costs and upkeep, but a real GT-350H these days can fetch upward of $200,000. This model features detailed engine and engine compartment, opening hood, complete interior, detailed chassis with front suspension & springs, dual exhaust, rear suspension & driveline and more. Includes decals with all of the special Hertz GT-350H trim and gold stripes. Molded in colored plastic, clear with many chrome plated parts and rubber tires.
