During that time, he was shot down 8 times; four bailouts and four crash landings. He flew 120 combat missions and on his last mission, he collided with a Russian Yak-9 over Berlin in the very last days of the war. He had 18 victories but not just over Russia; there were 6 B-17s, two B-24s, a Spitfire, Mustang and even four of the difficult-to-kill Il-2s to his credit. After the war he was captured by the Russians but managed to escape after only a few days. During the escape, he walked over 1,000 km in the span of just several days to his native Austria. Oscar lived in Canada with his wife Editha and had three children. As late as 2006 he was still performing at air shows in Canada & the USA and appeared in the IMAX movie 'Silent Sky.' He passed away in 2012.

Rare early to mid 1950s original issue that is molded in brown. Like all Miniature Masterpieces kits, this one is very finely engraved and molded with excellent detail. In addition to the carriage, it includes horses, the General, his lady, driver and a display base. The model includes detailed instructions (rare for the early 1950s) and a wonderful (and long) history of this particular carriage. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed 'krinkle' bag and includes instructions. 'Miniature Masterpieces' was formed through an alliance of Lew Glaser (Revell) and Steve Adams (Adams Action Models) in 1953. Although having the appearance of an independent company, the firm was run by Revell down to the prototypes being made at the Revell plant. However, there was no evidence of the parent company on the surface. The State Coach of England was the first kit, issued in 1953. More kits of excellent quality followed. Revell completely took over the line in 1954, making the one-year original issues very rare. And from J. Boyle - The actual carriage still exists and is displayed at the Studebaker National museum in South Bend, Indiana. It seems the Studebaker firm bought the carriage at the turn of the last century. When Studebaker quit building cars, it was donated to the City for eventual placement in a museum, along with many cars and other historic horse-drawn carriages collected by the firm.
