Rare kit from the 1950s. This is the two-piece box with an early 29 cent price extension and is the third issue. It is molded in glossy silver and clear plastic and includes the silver two-piece 'teardrop' base display stand. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions (both in 'Near Mint' condition) and even the famous Comet yellow envelope that you could send in for a catalog. Comet originally began model production in 1929 with a line of balsa flying models. In the mid-1950s Comet made a beautiful line of small and medium scale aircraft and missile models with colorful boxes. The early issues were in one-piece 'flip-top' boxes, and the later issues and releases were in standard two-piece 'hardboxes' with a lithograph slick glued to the top box. In 1963 Comet sold the plastic kit molds to Aurora, who reissued some but not all of the kits.

SALE!! Finally, the Pride of the Italian Line in 1/350 scale! The SS Rex is from the same team that brought you the 1/350 SS Normandie Ocean Liner. This four year project is a 100% new model and represents the Rex in her glory years of the mid 1930s. All design work was done in CAD by Ken Friend, a master modeler, designer and builder of experimental engines and test equipment and an engineer who specialized in CAD/CAM/CAE Systems Management and Implementation. All of the smaller parts are printed on ultra-high resolution 3D SLA resin printers. These parts meet and often exceed what is possible with injection molded plastic. Only the larger parts (hull, deck pieces and funnels)are cast resin. These are pressure-cast from de-aired molds to minimize air bubbles. The Italian Line advertised that "The Southern Route Is the Lido Deck Route." By virtue of avoiding the stormy and cold North Atlantic, travelers experienced a true outdoor lifestyle. The Rex was intentionally designed for this. For this model, extensive research and time was spent capturing the exact look of the colorful 1st and 2nd Class Aft Pool Areas- from the changing room & showers, grab rope on the pool, pool slide, stairs & diving boards, tables with umbrellas, recessed (covered) 1st Class Restaurant/Lounge and more. Because of the superior performance of 3D Printing, over 90% of the usual PE (photoetched) metal parts are now 3D printed resin. This is a vast improvement as they are no longer flat, but are true to the shape of the prototype. This also makes for a nearly complete model "out-of-the-box." Includes a real wood deck. NOTE: railings are the only parts not included with the model shown. However, 1/350 PE ship railings are very easy to locate from a large number of sources; I will refer the buyer to the ones that I like to use but you can always use your preference.

This large model is 35.5" long and has a 71" wingspan. This is one of the famous Sal Taibi's National award winning designs for use with 'hot' engines .15 to .29 displacement. Sal was one of the early 'Kings Of Gas Free Flight' and a very gifted designer. Feature high quality balsa and plywood parts, spar and strip wood, metal stock as required, aluminum motor mount, hardware and excellent full size plans. Never started and inside it is in factory-new condition. The small parts are still in the factory sealed clear bag; the other parts have been inventoried complete with the plans. NOTE: this kit was shipped in the very sturdy box shown. Unless you specify otherwise, we will send it wrapped in brown paper. If you wish to have it boxed, extra postage will apply. Designed for 'Sniffing Thermals,' the honored pastime of a generation of model enthusiasts. Flying model aircraft predated powered flight; however, balsa wood and printwood were not introduced until the early 1930s and the hobby took off, as well as the hunt for thermals. Gas flight began in the early 1930s, and powered models (most all driven by Brown engines) took home so many awards that they were forever separated in competition from rubber powered models. Design of gas models was tricky since RC (radio control) models could not yet be applied to the mass market; so a gas model had to not only fly and climb under power, but then glide sufficiently - all in a stable fashion and without any operator inputs once the airplane took off.

Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: VG

Includes the following factory-sealed aftermarket sets: Quickboost QB72669 Buccaneer FOD Covers, Eduard Two Vacuformed Canopies And PE Fret (for small ejection seat details) (missing instructions), Print Scale Decal #72-401 Hawker Disseley Buccaneer Part 1 and opened but mint condition CMA Decals #156 Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer Decal Set (two sheets). The actual kit is from all new molds and has excellent detail. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Buccaneer was the world's first purpose designed low level 'below the radar' bomber. Low level strike aircraft have a shorter airframe life limit due to the stresses of low level flying, so the Buccaneer was designed to be very strong and even had many sub-assemblies milled from solid metal.

Very, very rare model for the advanced wood kit collector. This is a Joe Ott solid wood scale model gift set that includes all four aircraft models. Features four fuselage blocks with the fuselage outlines printed on them, four sheets of printwood, color insignia sheets for each aircraft, sandpaper, an unopened metal tube of glue, a large glass bottle with paint (dried up of course) and a huge, fold-out set of plans and instructions that separately covers all four models. The plans include fuselage and wing templates, a drawing of the finished model and text instructions. Each model has a 9 inch wingspan. The instructions are 'good+' and completely usable, but they are not perfect. This model has never been started. It has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts for four kits and all paperwork present. The box is intact (which is amazing) but it has wear, split corners and closed tears on the two short side panels.
