Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Exc+
$175
Very rare and much more so in an 'Excellent+' condition box. This kit is from 1949, and even predates the Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' that started the plastic model craze in the United States. This model is molded in the correct glossy medium gray with a unique early stand. The model was issued with instructions but did not come with decals. The instructions tell you that '...the plane is molded in the proper base color, and if you intend to paint your favorite air-line markings be sure to use good enamel (not lacquer). The kit has never been started. The contents are as they left the factory. They have been inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions present. Hawk was a producer of wooden kits (often with plastic & metal details) before and after WWII and was one of the handful of manufacturers to produce such kits (known as 'solids') in a consistent 1/48 scale. Hawk made aircraft, ship and train models in this fashion. The very first injection molded aircraft kits in the United States were made by Varney or Hawk in 1946, but they did not catch on quickly. Hawk was always an innovative and quality-driven company, and they took a gamble on injection molded kit well before they were popular. As early as 1946 they issued the 1/48 Curtiss R3C-1 with wheels. Like Varney's Fleet Sub and PT-17, they were shunned by hobby dealers. Hawk persisted with the 'Evolution of the Jet' gift set in 1948 and issued several kits - the Supermarine S6B, Gee-Bee, Howard Ike, Laird (all in acetate) and the F-84G and this Constellation (both in polystyrene). All were in the two-tone one-piece box like this Constellation model.
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: VG+
$165
Rare, early Sea Power hardbox issue dated 1961. The box is in 'Very Good+' condition and the kit is unusually complete down to the Master Modelers Club Trading Stamp (of this kit), Revell 1962 Miniature (1/25) Catalog and even the 'Submarine Development' booklet. This kit caused a real issue with the Navy who was shocked that Revell had been able to issue such an accurate model. It was highly detailed for that time will full interior, removable starboard hull half and two Polaris missiles that 'fire' using spring power. Includes a display stand and a large decal sheet which has markings for SSB(N)600 Theodore Roosevelt, SSB(N)601 Robert E Lee, SSB(N)602 Abraham Lincoln, SSB(N)558 George Washington and SSB(N)559 Patrick Henry. Molded in the correct gloss medium gray, light green and black. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: VG+++
$250
Rare true first issue of this kit dated 1959 and in exceptional condition inside and out. Large and highly detailed she measures 36 inches long when assembled. The box is not perfect but is among the better that I have ever seen. It has excellent color and gloss, zero price tags, no fading and no tape or tape marks other than the factory sealing tape. There is light general wear, the stain just above the 'Y' on the box top, a factory tape litho pull (1.25" x .5") on the top long side and 2 partially split corners. Amazingly, this kit is still the 'standard' that other large-scale plastic sailing ships models are measured by. Since this is the first issue, the model has the factory painted copper hull below the waterline. The factory paint is in amazing 'near mint' condition. Since this is a first edition it also contains the booklet about the Cutty Sark. Features highly detailed deck, deck houses, cargo holds and removable covers, masts, yards and booms, bilge pump, windlass, 20 crew figure, lifeboats with oars, life preservers, anchors and anchor chains. Includes draftline and transom decals, figurehead, finely detailed hull, preformed ratlines and molded deadeyes, pin rails and blocks, full standing rigging instructions & diagrams, two thicknesses each of cotton cord for running & standing rigging and metal chain. Molded in three colors - black, ivory/white and dark swirl wood tan. The kit has never been started. Beside the hull, all parts are in the rare factory internal box which is almost never present. Even the original factory packing tissue is present. Inventoried with all parts, 'excellent++' condition decals, instructions and rigging plans present. Just an item of interest - if you have built this amazing kit, you know that often some of the incredibly fine parts are broken in shipment from the Revell factory. Well, that happened to this the original owner and he wrote Revell; and they sent him replacements! They are still in the original 'Revell' shipping box which cost 3 cents to mail. The parts are still inside in the factory bag. This kit must be shipped insured.

$245
Original issue hardbox dated 1969 and in remarkable 'Excellent++' condition. This kit was originally designed as a gas powered flying model. However, Aurora discontinued the gas powered line very shortly after introduction due to returns and liability issues. Since the mold investment was already made, Aurora marketed these kits as large scale static models and they became know as "Screwdriver Kits" to collectors. For example, the 1/32 scale B-25 was issued in Gas U-Control and then static - but the P-51 may have only been issued in static. Molded in dark blue, light blue and clear & with many metal parts and even includes it's own screwdriver so you didn't have to ask Dad to borrow his. Never started. The metal parts are still factory sealed in the original 'krinkle' bag. All other parts have been inventoried 100% complete. Includes decals in superb 'Near Ming' condition and instructions are 'Near Mint+.' The original factory screwdriver has the correct clear yellow handle.
