1960s issue in the Gold Token box but with a factory sticker applied (over the tokens) which states "Gold Token Scheme Now Discontinued." Very finely molded model which features pilot, seat and basic cockpit, separately molded rudder, elevators and ailerons, detailed engine, rotating propeller & wheels and more. Includes the large, clear two-piece earlier FROG stand with a round base. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. On the 28th of September, 1936, the Bristol 138/A climbed to an altitude of 49,967 feet to establish a new world altitude record. In 1937 it climbed to 53,967 feet where the windscreen cracked. The pilot was saved by the pressure suit he was wearing.

Very rare mid 1950s hardbox first issue with fantastic Ray Gaedke artwork. Even rarer in stunning 'Excellent+++' box condition. This is still the only 1/48 scale plastic model of the earliest 'V' Tail Bonanza. The kit features very fine raised and recessed surface detail, wing tip fuel fuel tanks, full landing gear and more. Includes a display stand, painting guide and decals for the box art aircraft (fuselage stripes are included). Molded in high-gloss silver plastic. Never started. Very early 1960s Tamiya model with high gloss box top and very collectible artwork. This is a superbly nicely molded kit for that time featuring clear fuselage half and cowling, well detailed interior, working ailerons, flaps and elevators, retractable landing gear, also three crew figures and more. The kit is intended to be motorized and includes all hardware and special stand that holds the batteries. As was the custom, Tamiya did not include the motor with the kit and it has to be purchased separately. Includes markings for four different aircraft. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags; all three bags still have the special Tamiya paper headers present and in factory-new condition. Includes decals and instructions, both of which are in 'excellent++' condition.

Strombecker was very well known for producing the finest pre-carved hardwood aircraft, missile & ship kits, but they also made a very short journey into the field of plastic models. Strombecker cut a total of 5 molds for injected-molded aircraft kits; the 1956 Sea Dart being the first. All were discontinued in the mid 1960s. One such model is this big 1/48 scale Bell X-1B. There were two releases; this is the rarer of the two with the pilot bust molded into the fuselage. Kit features raised surface detail, full landing gear, clear canopy and more. Includes a display stand, full instructions with three photos of the actual aircraft, full color decals, small Strombecker kit catalog and an application for the Strombecker Model-Makers Club. Never started. The model has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present.

Very rare classic Cold-War kit from the late 1950s. The Atomic Cannon was the Army's 20 mile range gun that could fire shells that contains small atomic bombs. The model is very highly detailed for that time and features transporters with movable wheels, towing yokes, fully detailed cab interiors, complete suspension and elevating and swiveling machine guns; the Atomic Cannon itself can be configured for firing or towing positions, the barrel elevates by actual operating gears, the carriage rotates 360 degrees on platform and it actually fires 2 "Atomic" shells. Includes crew of 7. Inside, the model is factory new. It has never been started. The internal factory cardboard divider is present and in 'excellent' condition. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the factory sealed bags; the parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete. With decals and instructions. The decals are very loosely rolled and in 'very good' condition with the typical yellowing as the main flaws. The instructions are in 'excellent' condition with minimal yellowing and a slight bit of wear and creasing to the right side of the cover page. The box has like-new color and gloss with no rips, no price tags or tag marks, no tape or tape marks (other than the factory sealing tape), four solid corners, no repairs and no fading. However, it does have very light age foxing (which is very difficult to see, it is so light) and light edge & corner wear with two small spots of moderate edge wear on the left vertical edge. the four box sides are in the same condition as the top except NOTE: There is one factory tape litho pull on the lower long side. It measures 1.5" x .5".The amazing M65 280mm atomic cannon originally started life as a conventional artillery piece. Development first began in 1944 before the first atomic weapon had been tested. Far from being 'just another giant gun', the M65 was carefully designed to be a very mobile and versatile weapon. Liberal use of aluminum and other light-weight metals kept the weight of the gun and both transports to about 85 tons, which is not much more than the largest conventional gun of WWII. As a result, it is light enough to be carried by trucks and cross bridges without collapsing them. Size was also a major factor, as it can fit inside landing craft, turn street corners of an amazingly small radius and travel as fast at 35 mph. The two transporters are required to move the gun, with one in back and one in front. Power is supplied to each tractor by a 6 cylinder engine with 375 horsepower. Both transmissions are manually controlled. These 4x4 machines can push, pull or parallel one another - with the gun slung between them. The driver of the front tractor has control of the brakes and throttles of both units and can communicate to the rear driver by telephone. The gun can be traversed in a complete circle and has a range of up to 20 miles. A complete 280mm battery consisted of two guns, four 5-ton trucks towing ammunition trailers, another two trucks pulling a pair of generator trailers (each with a 30 KW generator to furnish power to the guns), a 5th truck carrying four shell carts and a 2 1/2 ton shop van. The total crew was about 100 men. Each gun could be set up to fire in less than 12 minutes and can fire a round every two minutes.

This is a factory-sealed case of 12 Hobby-XV-3 model kits from the 1950s. Hobby-Time shipped them to the address on the box, and I purchased them from the man at that address. The case has never been opened and is still securely sealed top and bottom with the factory tape. The box is in 'excellent' condition. The actual model kits (12 inside the case!) are the one and only issue of this amazing aircraft. This is a very nice kit for that time with fine raised panel lines, interior detail and molded in gloss silver and clear.

Still factory sealed and in fantastic, investment-grade 'Near Mint' condition. Rare, large-scale original issue that was purchased new in December of 1973 in Akron, Ohio The MPC Pirates of the Caribbean series were unique and all of them became very collectible, classic kits. Each model is a full diorama and included extra bones, etc. so you could add your own touches. The 'Zap Action' feature was always interesting. In the case of the Mutineers, you press a button, and one pirate attempts to help lift his fellow pirate from a pit. Instead, he pulls his arm off clean off. For young children, this was an object lesson of the true power of a rubber band.
