Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: VG+++
$325
SALE!! Very rare and even more so in this condition. Classic Cold-War kit from the late 1950s. The Atomic Cannon was the Army's 20 mile range gun that could fire shells that contains small atomic bombs. The model is very highly detailed for that time and features transporters with movable wheels, towing yokes, fully detailed cab interiors & complete suspension, elevating and swiveling machine guns; the Atomic Cannon itself can be configured for firing or towing positions, the barrel elevates by real operating gears, the carriage rotates 360 degrees on platform and it actually fires 2 "Atomic" shells. Includes crew of 7. Inside, the model is factory new. It has never been started. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the factory sealed bags; the parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete. Includes decals and instructions. The decals are absolutely flat and in 'VG++' condition with the typical light age yellowing and some edge wear. The instructions are in 'excellent++' condition with typical yellowing as the only significant flaw. The box has like-new color and gloss. There are no tears, no price tags or tag marks, no tape or tape marks (other than the factory sealing tape), four solid corners, no repairs and no fading. However, it does have light to moderate general shelf wear as shown, mainly on the edges. There is one small factory tape litho pull on the upper long side which measures 1/2" x 3/8". The amazing M65 280mm atomic cannon originally started life as a conventional artillery piece. Development first began in 1944 before the first atomic weapon had been tested. Far from being 'just another giant gun', the M65 was carefully designed to be a very mobile and versatile weapon. Liberal use of aluminum and other light-weight metals kept the weight of the gun and both transports to about 85 tons, which is not much more than the largest conventional gun of WWII. As a result, it is light enough to be carried by trucks and cross bridges without collapsing them. Size was also a major factor, as it can fit inside landing craft, turn street corners of an amazingly small radius and travel as fast at 35 mph. The two transporters are required to move the gun, with one in back and one in front. Power is supplied to each tractor by a 6 cylinder engine with 375 horsepower. Both transmissions are manually controlled. These 4x4 machines can push, pull or parallel one another - with the gun slung between them. The driver of the front tractor has control of the brakes and throttles of both units and can communicate to the rear driver by telephone. The gun can be traversed in a complete circle and has a range of up to 20 miles. A complete 280mm battery consisted of two guns, four 5-ton trucks towing ammunition trailers, another two trucks pulling a pair of generator trailers (each with a 30 KW generator to furnish power to the guns), a 5th truck carrying four shell carts and a 2 1/2 ton shop van. The total crew was about 100 men. Each gun could be set up to fire in less than 12 minutes and can fire a round every two minutes.

Rare model from 1959 and the last "S" kit issued by Revell. The box top is in investment-grade 'near mint' condition. It has fantastic color and gloss, four solid corners, no fading or stains and no price tags or tag marks. There is not any tape or tape residue on the two long sides, which is rare. Flaws include isolated very light shelf wear at the upper left and some very light edge wear on the vertical sides. This model features opening tandem canopies, moving control surfaces, detailed, removable jet engines and two pilots. As the last "S" kit, this kit also incorporated a critical improvement for the time that would become standard only recently: all recessed detail. The entire kit has recessed panel lines and rivet detail- no raised marks. It has an attention to detail that is lacking in many older Pre-S and S kits. Molded in the correct gloss light gray and clear with the "Globe" clear stand. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

This model builds to 36 inches long and makes a very impressive display when complete. Never started. The white parts are still in the factory sealed clear bag. The tan parts bag was split open, so those parts have been inventoried complete and are sealed in a new bag. Includes decals, rigging materials, flags, sails, rigging diagrams and instructions.

This Museum Quality model has over 2300 pieces and an very reproduction of the famous flagship "Royal Sun" of the French Navy under the Count of Tourville in 1692. The ship was part of an epic sea battle where she took unbelievable damage and fought against all odds. This model has amazing detail inside and out. Includes full rigging instructions, rigging material and billowing sails. The kit has never been started. Most parts are still in the factory sealed clear bags. The hull & decks were never sealed; one bag of black and one bag of red parts were both split open, so all of these were inventoried and they are complete with all parts. Thanks to Imai's careful design of the internal packaging, the vacuform sails are in 'excellent' to 'near mint' condition.

Very rare original 1964 release of Ed Roth's incredibly popular Revell Monster Series. This is the 5th in the series. This is not a later reproduction. Features an approximately 6-inch figure of Dinghead Gremmy Surfink 'Hot Dogger' with movable wrists and movable arm, surfboard, optional Surfink action positions including standing in riding position, hang ten or hold board, Roth eyeball decals, "Real Wave" display base and a bonus 2 inch Crab! The four box sides are 'excellent' but the top is only 'good-' as shown, hence the final box rating of 'good-.'

1958 first issue hardbox featuring some of my favorite 'S' box artwork. Correct, original issue molded in three colors; not the later reissue. This model is loaded with working features typical of the higher quality kits of that time. The entire gantry tower folds back and moves on railroad base, the elevator moves to the four different work platforms and the Explorer Satellite can be removed from the Jupiter rocket. Includes crew of 7. Inside, the kit has never been started. The parts are molded in the correct red, medium gray and white. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts present, 'very good++' condition decals and 'excellent' instructions with typical yellowing.

This is an excellent model which features three Hawk missiles, four man crew, elevating and swiveling launcher, rubber tires that rotate, control panel hatches open, separate radar scope equipment and more. Molded in the correct white and olive drab plastic. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and 'excellent++' decals and instructions. The box would rate higher than 'excellent' but is graded as such due to the light wear shown at the center of the box top.

Rare. Original one-and-only issue dated 1958. It is easy to see why the Revell kits from this time are considered the pinnacle of model kit box art and so collectible today. As with all of the higher-quality models of that time, it has many action features including loading crane elevates and swivels 360 degrees & is fully rigged with blocks and tackle and the entire load-to-launching process can be duplicated with the trailer, truck, crane and launch pad. Includes a crew of 4, textured concrete base and missile launch pad. Molded in correct white and olive drab. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The decals are flat, intact and grade 'excellent+++' condition with light age yellowing as the only flaw. The instructions are in 'near mint' condition with slight age yellowing. The photo of the box top makes it looks 'near mint' condition; however, it is graded 'excellent+++' because there is a crease in the logo at the upper right; however, it is slight and did not show up in the photograph.

Very rare original "S" kit from 1959. The box states "So Realistic It Does Everything But Fly!" and that is no idle boast. It is full of action features; the wings fold, dive brakes operate, arresting hook moves, canopy slides to show full cockpit, landing gear retracts and cowling comes off to show fully detailed engine. The most interesting thing is that the landing gear retracts and extends with a very complicated gear system that is operated from a central point. Molded in the correct gloss medium gray and clear plastic. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Decals are in amazing 'near mint' condition with slight yellowing as the only flaw and the instructions are 'excellent++'. The box is only graded 'good-' due to the light age staining shown on the box top at the right side.
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: VG++

Rare 1954 hardbox issue with 89 cent price extension. This is the early small, thin box format measuring 13.25 x 4.1 x 1 inches. All parts are molded in correct gloss medium gray. Never started. It has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Decals are flat an in 'excellent++' condition and the instructions are 'very good++'. The box would grade higher than 'very good++' but it is rated as such because there is a 1/2" x 1/2" tape pull at the bottom center of the long top side.

Rare 1956 issue of this famous kit with the great box artwork that has made these kits so famous and collectible. This large-scale model features excellent detail for that time and almost all items shown in the box art - railings, grates, name boards, navigation lights, vents, whistles, bumpers, bitts and even two crew members. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: one railing is broke but the parts are there and fit back perfectly for a straight-forward repair. You can quickly tell the 1955 first version from this 1956 second version by the way 'Harbor Tug' is presented. On the 1955 version it is in black font. For 1956 it is in much more attractive red font with a black shadow outline. The Long Beach was built in Decatur, Alabama in 1943 and was one of a fleet of tugs operated by the Wilmington Transportation Company. She had a registered length of 81.1 feet and a beam of 24 feet. Gross tonnage was 146 inches and she drew 8 feet of water. Powered by a 700 hp diesel, the range was just over 3,500 miles.

In the 1960s Park issued the 'Born Losers' series. This is the Napoleon kit issued in the plain white box with "Napoleon" rubber stamped on one short end. The model shows a cartoon-like Napoleon with a tear in his eye, standing on a bridge with a sign pointing to "WATERLOO." A severed hand is reaching up from the water to claim him. Nearby rests his tomb stone, a beat up cannon and a tattered flag. Never started. Inventoried and 100% complete with all parts and the correct (sanitized) instructions. The story of the Born Losers is a classic in model kit history. The 'Hitler' one is the most infamous. The model features a display base showing the outside of the "The Bunker." Around it are reminders of WWII - a damaged panzer, a wrecked Luftwaffe aircraft, gun ports, a severed hand rising up from the ground (to claim Der Fuhrer), a damaged flag and of course a tombstone saying "Adolf Hitler History's Greatest Loser." The figure itself is done in a comic-like sense and has Hitler in a tattered uniform holding a gun to his head. Parents were outraged by this and the Aurora Horror Kits of the time. The public outcry was responsible for a very short production run of some of the monsters. Park's problems with these kits was a bit more complex. They had designed the series during the monster and figure craze and was betting on the success of the product. Many units were produced; great box art was commissioned, boxes made and instructions printed up but then came the public 'revolution.' Park found them almost impossible to sell and the box art, which accurately depicted the completed models only made the situation worse. As they were, no reputable retailer would dare to sell them. This is why you can find these kits in three different 'formats' today: the rarest is in the original and colorful box with full artwork. But since they became unsellable, this lead to some ingenious ways of off-loading the stock and the other two formats. The most common was to put the kit in a bag, remove any mention of 'Park' from the instructions and dump them on any retailer who would buy them. The least common way was more retailer-friendly: Park bought some plain white boxes and used a rubber stamp to denote the contents - either 'Castro', 'Hitler' and 'Napoleon.' And that was all that the white box had on it: no illustrations & no mention of Park Plastics or anything else. Inside, there was the bagged kit with the fully sanitized instructions. This is one of those issues.
