Lindberg F-80C Shooting Star - (P-80), 1/48, 500-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

F-80C Shooting Star - (P-80)

$54

From the 1950s and with wonderful artwork. The hardbox is in 'excellent+' condition with great color and gloss. Molded in the correct gloss silver and clear with the early O-lin style two-piece, teardrop-based stand. The kit has not been started and is complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Paul Lindberg got his start in 1930s model aviation by designing, building and flying stick and tissue aircraft. His plans appeared in Popular Aviation magazine and he soon made a name for himself. When injection molding showed the way to increased kit sales in the late 1940s/early 1950s, he quickly teamed up with Mr. Olsen to create 'O-lin' models. Ray Gaedke was one the the early artists for O-lin, and he help pioneer dramatic and colorful box artwork. In the early 1950s Paul Lindberg was running the company and had the logo changed to his name. The first logo was circular, with 'Lindberg' in middle and 'Products' 'Incorporated' arched across the top and bottom. The second logo is the 'Yellow Square' that is on this kit. Ray Gadke continued his bold and colorful artwork for Lindberg and did this F-80C boxart as well.

Cleveland 1936 Caudron Racer - Balsa Flying Model Airplane Kit, 1/16, SF-63

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

1936 Caudron Racer - Balsa Flying Model Airplane Kit

$84

This is a Cleveland 'SF' or 'Scale Flying' model in museum scale of 1/16. This is the earlier simple cardboard box with the silver printing. All Cleveland kits were exceptionally complete and this one is no exception. Features very high quality balsa printwood and strip wood, covering material, highest quality plans, all parts required for assembly and decals (if issued with the kit). The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. The Cleveland Model and Supply Company played a pivotal role in the development of true scale models. In 1909 Bleriot's English Channel flight caused a surge in aviation and model aircraft around the globe. Several companies were ideally positioned to take advantage of the aviation craze. In the USA, Wading River Manufacturing Co. (1909), White Aeroplane (1911), Ideal Model Aeroplane (1911), Broadfield Model Aeroplanes (1919) were among these pioneers, offering everything from plans and parts to complete kits and ARF models. Lindbergh's 1927 crossing of the Atlantic Ocean caused an even bigger world-wide phenomenon called "The Aviation Craze" that extended up to the start of World War II. Many companies such as Megow, Guillow's and others started right around the time of Lindbergh's flight. Some of these models flew and flew well, but they all had one thing in common - were generally not accurate scale representations. In 1929, a youngster named Ed Packard had a very advanced dream- to produce incredibly accurate, true scale models that flew perfectly. This radical idea established the world's longest running single-owner (77 years) model airplane business- Cleveland Model and Supply Company. To this day, Cleveland models are treasured as the most accurate flying scale models produced. The fact that Mr. Packard started and successfully grew this business during The Great Depression is a testament to his ideals and business skill. I highly suggest the excellent book called 'Aviation's great Recruiter- Cleveland's Ed Packard' by H.L. (Herm) Schreiner. It is an excellent history of the man, his company and the times of the Golden Age of Model Aviation.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

1914 Mercer Raceabout

$38

1967 Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of their kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. In some cases, the specific car and owner is on the box. This car is an exact reproduction of the car owned by Ralph T. Buckley, owner of the Antique Auto Shop of New Jersey. This shop specialized in rebuilding Mercer automobiles to factory new condition. The car was part of the Gene Zimmerman display of over 150 such cars in Holiday West PA. The model features detailed chassis, complete motor and interior and a removable hood or 'bonnet.' Molded in deep red, brass plating, clear and with rubber tires. Never started. Air Lines Miles Magister - (ex Frog), 1/72, 3900

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Miles Magister - (ex Frog)

$18

Mid 1960s issue from FROG molds when they were marketed in the USA under the 'Air Lines' brand name. Features raised panel lines, recessed control surface outlines, rotating propeller & wheels and more. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including all parts, decals and instructions. Air Lines History: In an attempt to expand the USA market for FROG kits, management partnered with Testors in the USA from 1964 to 1966. The kits, decals and instructions were made in England, then imported where Testors created the boxes with colorful trading cards on the back. Testors comissioned the famous Jo Kotula to do much of the box art; he was already established as one of the premier American commericial aviation artist who started in the 30s with many of the covers for Model Airplane News (MAN). The trading cars tastefully display the quality Kotula boxart without the logo and kit name. Some kits contain a Testors color painting guide also, but it is not specific to any model. It is worth noting that FROG kits were also sold by AMT (as AMT-Frog) and even by Hasegawa (as Hasegawa-Frog).
