Please read the article on this website about older HO train kits and the modeling revolution they caused in the late 1930s/1940s. During the golden era of realistic train models, La Belle Woodworking Company created perhaps the very finest scale kits of early American equipment. The kit features die cut hardwood parts (no balsa) such as pre-cut and scribed sides all cut to the correct size, car ends done in the same fashion, excellent underside and cast metal details, building instructions and plans and decals/transfers. I have seen these models built and they look identical to the real prototypes. The kit has not been started and is complete with two packets of small parts still factory sealed, and all other parts inventoried complete with transfers and instructions.

Still factory sealed but the seal has splits and the right side of the seal is missing as shonw. Classic Cold War kit in large 1/40 scale. I have listed this as a Krugozor ('Horizon') release as it has their logo and name on a short side and appears to be dated 1975, which would align with Krugozor production. Krugozor (or MFDI) took over Yunyj Tyechinik production in the mid 1970s and production continued till 1993. Yunyj Tyechinik orignally succeeded MZMPI, which was the first kit manufacture in the USSR.

Nicely molded, larger scale model from the late 1950s or early 1960s. Never started. The small parts are still in the internal factory sealed bag, and the larger parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete including decals and instructions. Lincoln was based in Hong Kong. Plastic kits were not the primary business, but they established quite a line of them before discontinuing production in the late 1960s/early 1970s. Many molds moved to Kader, also in Hong Kong, who reissued the line. Many molds eventually found their way to the USA either through ATP (who purchased the excess kit stock when Kader sold out) or IM.

Rare. Early to mid 1960s 'Custom Car Parts' issue in a very narrow box with a header for hanging. All parts are chrome plated. Never used and complete with all parts and instructions (on the back of the box). Please note this is the 'black background' issue of this kit. Another issue had the parts against a yellow background.

KVZ was the logo used by this East German kit manufacturer from 1969 to 1973. During this time, some fantastic Cold War kits were produced of Russian Aeroflot Airliners and Military Helicopters and Aircraft. Comes with colorful markings for DDR, Polish, Russian and Czech versions. Molded in silver, black and clear and with original clay nose weight and factory glue. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Contains pre-colored Aeroskin fabric created to resemble fabric covered aircraft. No painting needed since all designs are printed on the fabric. You build the inner structure of the aircraft then cover it, similar to the construction of the actual aircraft. Has markings for Nungesser's colorful aircraft. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, aeroskin and instructions. Even the factory glue for the Aeroskin is present in the original glass bottle and still good.

The box is in fantastic condition with like-new color and gloss, four solid corners, no repairs, no price tags or tape (not even the factory sealing tape) and no missing litho or fading. Rare early 1960s issue. This release has turned up less than any of the other issues and was only made for a year or two at the most before the new artwork release. This is the only issue with the full, original artwork due to the 'transparent' new simplified oval logo at the lower right. The side logos do not have 'Famous Fighters' in the border. One side has the original printed '102-79' part number while the other end has a factory-applied '100' sticker over the 79. Molded in the correct gloss olive drab and black plastic and with the chock ground base and pilot & mechanic figures. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts decals and instructions. Please NOTE that the box displays much closer to 'Excellent++' but is graded lower because there is a small tape pull on the lower long side and some missing litho at the right short side.

First issue from the early 1950s in the one-piece box. Molded in high gloss yellow and black. The model has not been started. Complete with instructions and all parts. This kit is from early in this first issue, and the first kits were not issued with decals. In the 1920s through the 1940s Hawk made constant scale 1/48 aircraft kits from wood. In 1946 they added plastic injection molded kits to the line and were possibly the first injection molded kit manufacturer in the USA. When Hawk made an early jump to all-plastic kits they kept the 1/48 scale and created these new one-piece boxes with two color artwork.

Orange Crush-Revell 1910 Cadillac Limousine, 1/32

Very rare kit with a fascinating history. Around 1958/59, Orange Crush of Mexico offered a promotion. They offered free, colorful, plastic model cars if you collected correctly-marked Orange Crush bottle caps. The models are 1/32 scale Revell Highway Pioneer series - although there is no mention of Revell or Lodela anywhere on the box. Orange Crush had the boxes and even the instructions specially made for them with no mention of a manufacturer. They were never given numbers. The boxes were very thin and fragile cardboard. This has contributed to wear and you must be very cautious with them. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bag and the instructions are sealed in the bag as well. You could redeem your caps two ways - at the Orange Crush truck and at a Modelandia Hobby House. The box sides show the 18 cars in the series. Orange Crush also released two full-color booklets and a complete paint set for the cars. A colorful cardboard box held 7 colors of paint in glass bottles, complete with 'Orange Crush' screw-on caps! The entire promotion was done in coordination with Modelandia Hobby House which had up to 19 stores. Modelandia's name appears on each of the boxes and the paint as well. Robina S.A. was the bottler or distributor of Orange Crush in Mexico at that time. The box side lists the other 18 kits with small color pictures of each and shows three sizes of OC - Family Size (Familiar), Grand (Grande) and Normal. You could also obtain models with Titan bottle caps. Titan was also bottled by Robina and came in large (Titan) and smaller (Titancito) sizes and apparently more than one flavor. We do not know how Orange Crush had access to the plastic kits or who sealed the internal bags with the Crush instructions inside them. We can assume that it may have been Lodela, since they would have had access to the Revell molds. It is not know for how long the promotion lasted, but Orange Crush was one of the most dominant soft drinks in Mexico at that time. Here is one clue: some boxes claim that Modelandia had 13 locations; other boxes, which obviously came later on, claim 19 locations. This may indicate that this promotion went on for a significant amount of time.

First issue dated 1957 with fantastic Jo Kotula artwork. This is a very well molded and detailed kit for that time and is molded in beautiful deep gloss burgundy and black plastic. Never started and inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. This aircraft has a fascinating history. From the internet: The United States Post Office had been running the air mail service since 1918 mainly using variants of the de Havilland DH.4 biplane. In 1925, it decided to modernize and placed an order with Douglas for a replacement aircraft based on the Douglas O-2 observation biplane. The company modified an O-2 by covering over the forward cockpit to make a mail compartment and moving the pilot into what had been the observer's cockpit. The aircraft was designated the DAM-1 (Douglas Air-Mail-One) but this was soon shortened to M-1. The M-1 used the same Liberty engine as the DH.4, which was available in large numbers. Small modifications were made to the exhaust system to keep fumes away from the pilot and the design was considered a success, but was not ordered into production. When the Contract Air Mail (CAM) routes were introduced, the newly formed Western Air Express Company (later Western Airlines) ordered six mailplanes with the designation M-2. The main change from the M-1 was that the tunnel radiator was replaced with a frontal type. It also had the provision to carry a passenger instead of mail in the front cockpit. Just before Western Air Express introduced the aircraft into service (in April 1926 from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City), the Post Office ordered 50 aircraft designated M-3 for its major route network. The M-3 had only detailed differences from the M-2.

From the 1940s or very early 1950s. The scale is not given, but the wingspan is 8 inches. This is a higher-quality solid wood scale kit featuring all die-cut balsa parts, bread-and-butter fuselage constructions, die cut wings, printwood tail feathers and other parts, fully finished wheels, clear vacuform canopy (in like-new condition, very highly detailed plans with templates, step-by-step construction and even a painting guide. Never started and complete. The original part number of this kit was 25 S9, but the factory over-stamped it with the number listed.
