Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Good
$27
Final FROG logo issue from the 1970s. Frog is the father of all injection molded plastic kits, which were called "FROG Penguin" because they did not fly. Production was well established before WWII; after the war, Frog very successfully picked up where they left off. This model kit features optional parts for USA or French versions, fine raised panel lines, recessed control surface outlines, pilot and seat, two piece, optional position canopy, 'good' engine detail, optional position landing gear, rotating propeller & wheels, 2 bombs & 4 rocket payload and more. Includes a full color, multi-view painting guide on the back of the box and decals for both aircraft listed. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. HISTORY: The Lines Brothers opened Frog in 1932, capitalizing on the fever caused by Lindberg's solo transatlantic flight. Almost overnight the western populations became 'Air-Minded', and anything aviation was in high demand. Frog created a quality line of stick and tissue rubber powered aircraft and gliders as well as innovative ready-to-fly rubber powered aircraft that required no assembly. The box even contained a built-in rubber motor winder and fuselage holder. Model airplane flight competitions were popular in Great Britain, and one category was 'Rise Off the Ground', or ROG. By changing this to 'Flies Right Off the Ground', the FROG name was born. In 1936 Frog created a line of injection molded plastic models, the first such kit line in the world (Hawk sold a line of injection molded aircraft models in 1934 but they were factory assembled and painted). Named 'Penguin' after the bird that does not fly, the kits were innovative beyond the means of production. At a time when models were simply built by wingspan, the Penguin line was a constant 1/72 scale. Furthermore, a large 1/72 Short S.30 Empire class flying boat contained a full interior and lights! A line of accessories such as AA guns, tractors, hanger, ambulance, sound locator, searchlights and lighting kits were quickly added to the line. WWII caused a pause in production. After the war the box color changed from silver to green, and Penguin kits were also marketed in the USA. Production ended in 1950. Frog quickly expanded and released the Red, Blue, Orange, Black, Green, Gold Token, Spin and Comet series as well as Trail Blazers and several others. It is noteworthy that while most manufacturers in the 1940s/50 were making toy-like models, Frog attempted to make very realistic models. For example, 'detailing' kits with excessively large rivets was once very popular. Frog ignored this trend and continued to mold aircraft with fine panel lines and no rivets. As a result, Frog kits can be built into very realistic replicas. Production ended in the late 1970s, but Frog molds are still in use around the world.

Very rare kit for the advanced collector. The Seabee was produced as a high performance sport amphibian. This is a very hard-to-fine original O-lin kit in the small box and advertisement for O-lin cement on the top. Produced in 1949 or just before. O-Lin (Olin) was founded by Paul Lindberg and a Mr. Olsen - hence the company name. Although a producer of flying models in the 1930s, O-lin produced some of the earliest American injection molded kits in the late 1940s. In 1950 the partnership may have ended, because all branding was changed to Lindberg and Paul Lindberg. Inside, the kit is as new. It is molded in high gloss light gray and has the correct decals and instructions. The kit has never been started and is inventoried complete with all parts, instructions and decals.

Rare 1956 Revell Gift set containing all three ships and even the unopened tube of colorful Revell "S" cement. This was the first and only issue of this specific gift set and features spectacular special box artwork. The tugboat is 1/108 scale and the tanker and cargo ship are both 1/400. Inside, the kit is 100% correct. The special color cardboard over lay is factory fresh. The tug and C-3 lower hulls are factory painted red (the T-2 was molded in red so it was not painted). Decals are included. The instruction sheets are excellent with the typical yellowing as the only flaw. The three kits have not been started. The tug and freighter still have the small parts in the factory sealed clear bags; the parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete. The tanker has been inventoried 100% complete. All three kits include decals and instructions. The box has brilliant color and gloss, four solid corners and no repairs. There is no tape, tape marks, price tags or price tag marks. However, there is moderate and light general wear and 'dings' on the two lower corners as shown. Shipping insurance is required with this kit.

To save on or eliminate shipping for decals, please order them with model kits or order enough of them to make boxing worth while. USPS clearly states that any flexible envelope will be bent 90 degrees or more within 2 inches, so I cannot send decals in a flexible envelope. A decal reinforced with cardboard will be greater than 1/4" thick, which USPS says must go as a normal box. There is no choice; because I will not send decals to their probable destruction, shipping in a box is the only option.

Still factory sealed and rare in this condition. This 'Orange' Series issue includes a full color, multi-view paint guide and decals for No.12 Sq RAF Honington, 1970 and No. 24 Sq SAAF Waterkfloof, 1970. Features fine raised panel lines, recessed control surface outlines, opening unique, rotating bomb bay, folding wings, working arresting hook, four anti-ship missiles on wing pylons, optional position landing gear and more. The Buccaneer was the world's first purpose designed low level 'below the radar' bomber. Low level strike aircraft have a shorter airframe life limit due to the stresses of low level flying, so the Buccaneer was designed to be very strong and even had many sub-assemblies milled from solid metal.

Very rare and especially in impressive, investment-grade 'Near Mint+' box condition. First and only issue dated 1958 and from this amazing box art you can clearly see why these kits are so collectible. This example is in investment-grade 'near mint plus' condition with factory-new color and gloss, four solid corners, no creases, no stains, no tape (other than the factory tape), no writing, no tags and no tag marks. Flaws include very light and isolated wear and a tiny tape tear on the top long side from the factory sealing tape (measures about 3/8 x 1/4 inch). This kit uses modified 1956 molds from H232-89, the original S Skyhawk issue. Revell added two Bullpup Missiles (improperly labeled as 'Air-To-Air Missiles' on the box top), two missile trailers with towbars, four figures, three figure bases, weapons pylons, separate flap hinge covers and of course a completely new decal sheet. Molded in the correct gloss gray and clear.

1958 first issue hardbox featuring some of my favorite 'S' box artwork. Correct, original issue molded in three colors; not the recent reissue. The box is in 'very good+++' condition with great color and gloss. There are no price tags, no tag marks, no litho tear or missing litho, no fading, four solid original corners and no stains. Flaws include even light general wear as shown, a very short and mild crease at the upper left and residue from thin, clear tape on all four sides. Loaded with working features typical of kits at the time. The entire gantry tower folds back and moves on railroad base, the elevator moves to the four different work platforms and the Explorer Satellite can be removed from the Jupiter rocket. Includes crew of 7. Inside, the kit has never been started. The parts are molded in the correct red, medium gray and white. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and completely flat 'very good++' condition decals and 'very good' instructions with typical yellowing and some edge wear, the heaviest at the bottom.
