Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Saab J-21R A/B Or A-21R Conversion - Bagged

$15

The Saab 21R was Sweden's first military jet aircraft. It was made by taking existing Saab 21 airframes and installing a de Havilland Goblin turbine engine. This proved to be more challenging than anticipated but the first flight was made on 10 March 1947. Two more years passed before all developmental problems were solved and the aircraft entered mass production and service with the Swedish Air Force. Aircraft either had the original de Havilland built Goblin 2 ("RA" variants) or the Swedish license built Goblin 3 ("RB" variants). Thirty of each were built, for a total of 60 aircraft. After a fairly short service life, all airframes were converted to A21R and A21RB ground attack aircraft, which carried five 180mm Bofors rocket projectiles or 10 80mm anti-tank rockets. This is a conversion kit consisting of high-definition cast resin parts as required to build the 21R. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes text and illustrated instructions. A base kit is required and the Heller 1/72 Saab 21 is recommended.

Although the molds were made at Adams and it had the appearance of an independent company, the firm was run by Revell down to the prototypes being made at the Revell plant. Originally there was no evidence of the parent company on the surface. The State Coach of England was the first kit, issued in 1953. More kits of excellent quality followed. Revell completely took over the line in 1954 and in that year and the next, kits were labeled 'Revell' with a 'Miniature Masterpiece' label on the box top also. However, Adams broke the relationship with Revell in the later 1950s and began making kits under the Adams name with the original molds.

Air Lines kits are all Frog molds that the Lines Brothers imported to the USA between 1964-1966. The kits, decals and instructions were made in England, then imported to the USA where Testors created the boxes with the colorful trading cards on the back. There are one or two trading cards on each box which show the boxart but not the advertising/logo. Some kits contain a Testors color painting guide also, but it is not specific to any model.

Cleveland Wedells Own Wedell-Williams 1933 Thompson Trophy Winner - 13 Inch Wingspan Free-Flight Rubber Powered Flying Aircraft, 1/24, D-47

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Wedells Own Wedell-Williams 1933 Thompson Trophy Winner - 13 Inch Wingspan Free-Flight Rubber Powered Flying Aircraft

$62

Very rare and from the mid 1930s to the early 1940s. This is a Cleveland 'D' or dwarf kit. The term 'Dwarf' is just a bit deceptive, as it is Cleveland's designation for 1/24 scale. Most Cleveland kits were designated 'SF' or Scale Flying - 1/16 scale. The Dwarf kits were needed to fill a market demand for smaller flying models. All Cleveland kits were exceptionally complete and Dwarfs were no exception, containing very high quality balsa printwood, stringers & spars, fully formed wheels, covering tissue, a wood propeller that is about 90% carved and just needs final sanding, gray rigging thread (if required), metal and balsa stock as required and more. With Cleveland's famous high-quality plans. Amazingly, this kit is still 'factory tissue sealed' inside. When the Cleveland workers packed each kit, they wrapped them in tissue that effectively made a seal which has not been disturbed. Whoever buys it will be the first one to see the contents since it was packed in the factory over 90 years ago. Cleveland Model and Supply Company played a pivotal role in the development of true scale models. In 1909 Bleriot's English Channel flight caused a surge in aviation and model aircraft around the globe. Several companies were ideally positioned to take advantage of the aviation craze. In the USA, Wading River Manufacturing Co. (1909), White Aeroplane (1911), Ideal Model Aeroplane (1911), Broadfield Model Aeroplanes (1919) were among these pioneers, offering everything from plans and parts to complete kits and ARF models. Lindbergh's 1927 crossing of the Atlantic Ocean caused an even bigger world-wide phenomenon called "The Aviation Craze" that extended up to the start of World War II. Many companies such as Megow, Guillow's and others started right around the time of Lindbergh's flight. Some of these models flew and flew well, but they all had one thing in common - were generally not accurate scale representations. In 1929, a youngster named Ed Packard had a very advanced dream- to produce incredibly accurate, true scale models that flew perfectly. This radical idea established the world's longest running single-owner (77 years) model airplane supply business - Cleveland Model and Supply Company. To this day, Cleveland models are treasured as the most accurate flying scale models produced. The fact that Mr. Packard started and successfully grew this business during The Great Depression is a testament to his ideals and business skill. I highly suggest the excellent book called 'Aviation's great Recruiter - Cleveland's Ed Packard' by H.L. (Herm) Schreiner. It is an excellent history of the man, his company and the times of the Golden Age of Model Aviation.

Aurora The Blue Knight of Milan, 1/8, 472

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

The Blue Knight of Milan

$42

1960s Aurora of Great Britain issue with great box art. This model contains a large 1/8 scale knight, base, both red and white plumes (like the box art) and instructions. The kit has never been assembled but NOTE: the base has been very neatly painted. There is no other painting Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, plume/feather and instructions. Please note that the box is only 'good-' with significant wear and a closed tear on the right long side, In the mid 1950s, Aurora bought three 'Knight' molds from Crown Plastics and issued them as K1, K2 and K3. These were the very first Aurora figure kits and they sported the 1956-only rectangular 'Northern Lights' logo with the correct 'Crown Line' logo inside it. The sales success of the Knight prompted Aurora to launch an entire line of figure kits. The knights themselves stayed in production long after many other figures were discontinued.
