The Saab 21R was Sweden's first military jet aircraft. It was made by taking existing Saab 21 airframes and installing a de Havilland Goblin turbine engine. This proved to be more challenging than anticipated but the first flight was made on 10 March 1947. Two more years passed before all developmental problems were solved and the aircraft entered mass production and service with the Swedish Air Force. Aircraft either had the original de Havilland built Goblin 2 ("RA" variants) or the Swedish license built Goblin 3 ("RB" variants). Thirty of each were built, for a total of 60 aircraft. After a fairly short service life, all airframes were converted to A21R and A21RB ground attack aircraft, which carried five 180mm Bofors rocket projectiles or 10 80mm anti-tank rockets. This is a conversion kit consisting of high-definition cast resin parts as required to build the 21R. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes text and illustrated instructions. A base kit is required and the Heller 1/72 Saab 21 is recommended.

Very rare 1958 issue. This highly detailed model includes wagon with detailed chassis & hitch, dinner bell, stew pot, coffee pot & lantern, two life-like cowhands, one sitting cowboy calf, dog, two horses, display base and more. The kit has never been started. Inventoried with all parts present, Adams "Circle A Ranch" decals in 'near mint' condition and photocopied instructions. NOTE: the instructions are high-quality, full size photocopies from the Revell kit. The original instructions are missing. This kit has an interesting history. 'Miniature Masterpieces' was formed through an alliance of Lew Glaser (Revell) and Steve Adams (Adams Action Models) in 1953. Although the molds were made at Adams and it had the appearance of an independent company, the firm was run by Revell down to the prototypes being made at the Revell plant. Originally there was no evidence of the parent company on the surface. The State Coach of England was the first kit, issued in 1953. More kits of excellent quality followed. Revell completely took over the line in 1954 and in that year and the next, kits were labeled 'Revell' with a 'Miniature Masterpiece' label on the box top also. However, Adams broke the relationship with Revell in the later 1950s and began making kits under the Adams name with the original molds.

1960s issue from quality Frog molds. Features separately molded ailerons, elevators and rudder. Finely molded in silver and clear plastic. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Air Lines History: In an attempt to expand the USA market for FROG kits, management partnered with Testors in the USA from 1964 to 1966. The kits, decals and instructions were made in England, then imported where Testors created the boxes with colorful trading cards on the back. Testors comissioned the famous Jo Kotula to do much of the box art; he was already established as one of the premier American commericial aviation artist who started in the 30s with many of the covers for Model Airplane News (MAN). The trading cars tastefully display the quality Kotula boxart without the logo and kit name. Some kits contain a Testors color painting guide also, but it is not specific to any model. It is worth noting that FROG kits were also sold by AMT (as AMT-Frog) and even by Hasegawa (as Hasegawa-Frog).

1965 Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of it's kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. In some cases, the specific car and owner is on the box. The model includes rubber tires, chrome plated, colored and clear parts. Features a nicely detailed molded chassis with suspension, steering linkage and fuel tank, complete motor, spoked wheels, luggage trunk, full interior, dual side mount spare tires and a removable hood or 'bonnet.' Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions.
Wood Model Kit, Box Condition: VG
$62
Very rare and from the mid 1930s to the early 1940s. This is a Cleveland 'D' or dwarf kit. The term 'Dwarf' is just a bit deceptive, as it is Cleveland's designation for 1/24 scale. Most Cleveland kits were designated 'SF' or Scale Flying - 1/16 scale. The Dwarf kits were needed to fill a market demand for smaller flying models. All Cleveland kits were exceptionally complete and Dwarfs were no exception, containing very high quality balsa printwood, stringers & spars, fully formed wheels, covering tissue, a wood propeller that is about 90% carved and just needs final sanding, gray rigging thread (if required), metal and balsa stock as required and more. With Cleveland's famous high-quality plans. Amazingly, this kit is still 'factory tissue sealed' inside. When the Cleveland workers packed each kit, they wrapped them in tissue that effectively made a seal which has not been disturbed. Whoever buys it will be the first one to see the contents since it was packed in the factory over 90 years ago. Cleveland Model and Supply Company played a pivotal role in the development of true scale models. In 1909 Bleriot's English Channel flight caused a surge in aviation and model aircraft around the globe. Several companies were ideally positioned to take advantage of the aviation craze. In the USA, Wading River Manufacturing Co. (1909), White Aeroplane (1911), Ideal Model Aeroplane (1911), Broadfield Model Aeroplanes (1919) were among these pioneers, offering everything from plans and parts to complete kits and ARF models. Lindbergh's 1927 crossing of the Atlantic Ocean caused an even bigger world-wide phenomenon called "The Aviation Craze" that extended up to the start of World War II. Many companies such as Megow, Guillow's and others started right around the time of Lindbergh's flight. Some of these models flew and flew well, but they all had one thing in common - were generally not accurate scale representations. In 1929, a youngster named Ed Packard had a very advanced dream- to produce incredibly accurate, true scale models that flew perfectly. This radical idea established the world's longest running single-owner (77 years) model airplane supply business - Cleveland Model and Supply Company. To this day, Cleveland models are treasured as the most accurate flying scale models produced. The fact that Mr. Packard started and successfully grew this business during The Great Depression is a testament to his ideals and business skill. I highly suggest the excellent book called 'Aviation's great Recruiter - Cleveland's Ed Packard' by H.L. (Herm) Schreiner. It is an excellent history of the man, his company and the times of the Golden Age of Model Aviation.
