1960s issue from Plasticos Lodela, S.A. This model features variable sweep wings, retracting landing gear, detailed jet engine, movable control surfaces and more. Molded in silver and clear plastic. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The X-5 was the first aircraft to change the angle of wing sweepback in flight, and paved the way for the legendary F-111 and F-14.

From the 1960s and features traditional wood/tissue construction with a rare vacuformed clear plastic canopy and spinner (still in mint condition and not yellowed) quality, die-cut balsa sheet parts, stripwood, fully finished main and tail wheels, wood stock as required, fully formed wire landing gear, rubber motor, metal propeller shaft/rubber hook, plastic propeller, wood thrust button, a big sheet of color insignia, template sheet with many details, covering tissue and detailed, full-size plans with building instructions. The kit has never beens started and has been inventoried complete. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

This deluxe model is from the early 1970s. It is large scale and robustly designed for rubber or gas free flight; easily converted to RC using today's tiny and light servos and receivers. Box art is by Locher, who did a great deal of the Monogram box artwork also. Features traditional wood/tissue construction with all die cut parts, 'Tube-O-Matic' fuselage construction and 'Rugged Super X Simplified Non-Warping Wing' construction, a very large and colorful insignia sheet for the box art aircraft, detailed full size plans, building instructions, wheels, hardware, tissue and propeller. Rare early 1950s USA plastic model kit. This is the larger of the two Comet S2Fs in near 1/48 scale. As with most Comet kits, this one is well molded with all recessed panel detail and no unsightly rivets. Features retractable sonar dome and MAD boom, extensive clear windows, wing search light with clear cover, rocket under-wing load out, rotating propellers and display stand. 1960 issue with modified molds, 'textured' hardbox and frameable John Steel box artwork. The texture was used to make the artwork seem more like a painting, and it did. This large and detailed full hull kit builds up to almost 15" long. It is not simply a reissue of the earlier 'The Sullivans' but Revell correctly modified it to represent a late-war Fletcher class DD. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals, color flag sheet and instructions present. The box is at the low end of 'good' with light brown spotting all over the box top.

Still factory sealed. This rare first issue has the Type 1 logo paper header is in 'Excellent+' condition. The kit is molded in the correct silver plastic with a clear canopy and correct early. two-piece clear Airfix 'teardrop-base' stand. Airfix's first logo for plastic models is known among collectors as the 'Type One' or 'T1' logo and was used for short time in the 1950s and occasionally in the very early 1960s.
