Rare, original 1950s issue. The rare 'Very Good+' box features Ray Gaedke art, has four solid corners, great color and gloss and light to moderate wear as shown. This huge three-foot long WWII Fletcher-class Destroyer is designed for R/C, free or pattern running. The cams provided 'program' the ship to do rectangles, figure 8, circle or go straight. The model has very good detail for that time and features motor, gear box and gears, all running hardware, detailed and rotating 5" turrets & main gun director, separately molded and multi-piece 40mm and twin 20mm guns & mounts, depth charges & tracks, two sets of torpedo tubes, ships boats, life rafts and much more. The kit has never been started. Inventoried complete with all parts, decals and correct first issue instructions. Torpedo hits from Melvin reportedly sank the battleship Fuso at the Battle of Surigao Strait, 1944.

The box is intact and has excellent color and gloss and four solid corners, but it does have general wear and some creasing at the left.

The model can be built as stock, custom or drag and features a very large variety of customizing & race parts, detailed engine & engine compartment, opening hood, full interior, exhaust and underside detail and much more. Molded in white, clear, red tinted clear, and chrome. With rubber tires. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals ('Mississippi Gambler,' Hemi Henry' or 'Rebel Ford Inc.') and instructions. The decals are in 'very good' condition and have typical age micro cracking and the instructions are 'near mint.'

Big scale model originally designed for gas powered free flight (.045 to .099) or control line (.099-.29), or can be converted to electric power and modern R/C (radio control). Features plastic cowl, decals, covering material, detailed, full size plans, formed wire main gear and tail wheel struts, die cut balsa and plywood parts, hardwood main & tail wheels and more. The model has not been started. The parts have been inventoried complete including decals and instructions. Berkeley is a very famous manufacturer of flying model kits from the Golden Age of flying aviation, about 1932-1954. Founded in 1933 by William Effinger, the company was quite progressive in producing quality kits - it was likely the Berkeley 'Buccaneer' was the first gas powered model in kit form. In the later 1930s, Effinger acquired the services of a very talented Henry Struck. Struck went on to design numerous award-winning kits under the Berkeley name. Berkeley weathered the post WWII recession and emerged as a major kit producer in the late 1940 and 1950s. These were great years for Berkeley and they produced some incredible and large kits. The company went bankrupt in about 1960 however. Fox engines (Duke Fox) bought the company and released the kits alongside his own FOX models and engines. This arrangement did not last, and in the early 1960s the Berkeley name disappeared from hobby shop shelves.
