1/275 #3103 Monogram
![]() Japanese Submarine I-19 with Glen Seaplane VG+ Injection Molded old | $85 Sale Pending Email for availability. |
|||
| From original Aurora molds. The I-19 is famous for firing history's most successful torpedo spread off Guadalcanal. On September 14, 1942, the I-19 was patrolling of the Solomons when she fired a 6 torpedo spread. Three hit and sank the US Carrier CV-7 WASP, and the remaining three exploded against the BB North Carolina and the destroyer O'Brien. The destroyer sank and the North Carolina had to be repaired at Pearl till November 16, 1942. The I-19's Glen seaplane also flew night reconnaissance on February 23, 1942 over Pearl Harbor for the planned second attack by Emily flying boats on that base. Large scale kit is almost 16 inches long when assembled. This is an excellent model from Aurora's efforts of the late 1960s/early 1970s. Aurora knew that it's old 1950s kits were outclassed by the late 60s and cut a new series of molds including several ships, helos and subs. The result was high mold quality and very good details, as in this kit. Includes large display stand, decals, periscope and cranes, detailed Glen Seaplane, conning tower and deck guns. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. | ||||

![]() Boeing Stratofreighter (Model 367 / C-97A) USAF - Built Up No Box Injection Molded old
| This is an Allyn built-up C-97A model with no stand. Quality of assembly is 'very good' as shown, but the plastic is dirty from age. The airplane is complete with the exception of one engine nacelle - there are three vacuform replacements included, as well as the original prop and metal washer prop retainer. Allyn produced 'Factory Display' models and also released some of them to the public as standard, unassembled model kits. The Allyn kits were produced from the early 1950s and by the late 1950s production had been discontinued. Today they are all highly prized collectors items. | |||

#A19-298 Sterling
![]() Spitfire MkI - 24 inch Wingspan for RC - Drops Bombs in Flight Exc Wood old
| 24 inch wingspan kit for RC, free flight or control line. Includes innovative system for automatically dropping bombs in flight. Sterling was a famous manufacture dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they featured color decals, high-grade die cut balsa, vacuform plastic detail parts, plastic wheels (if required), finished wire landing gear, rubber motor and plastic prop, full size plans with instruction details and full instructions for conversion to RC or control line. The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. | |||

#3306 Comet
![]() Messerschmitt Bf-109E - 18 inch Wingspan Flying Balsa Model Airplane Exc Wood old
| 1970s reissue of the older kit. Comet was a famous manufacture of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998. Kit features traditional wood/tissue construction, detailed full size plans, building instructions, hardware (if required), tissue and propeller. The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. | |||
