First issue hardbox dated 1961 and part of Monogram's incredibly popular 1/48 World War II aircraft series that they started issuing in the early 1960s. Features folding wings, retractable landing gear, opening bomb bay doors and dropping bomb (after swinging clear of the propeller!), 'good' cockpit and crew stations, crew figures, rear guns that can be stowed or elevated, canopies that open and close, rotating wheels & propeller and more. Molded in the correct gloss dark blue, black and clear plastic. Never started and complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Hardbox with wonderful gloss and color is dated 1961; however, this issue is probably from about 1964/5 because of the 70 cent price extension. This is a very nice small-scale model for that time and features full landing gear, gear doors, clear cockpit and bombardier's canopies, rotating propellers, twin jet engine pods and the clear triangle-shaped Aurora 'World Map' display stand. Molded gloss sliver and clear plastic. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The box has like new color and gloss, four solid corners, no repairs, no stains, fading, torn or missing litho and no price tags. Flaws include very light general wear, clear tape on the short sides and a thin, vertical factory litho line down through the "3" in B36. If you look closely at the photo you can see it, although it is difficult to see.

Quality is excellent and all work has been done correctly and matches the plans. It is ready to complete with the uncut printwood parts.

Rare kit from the 1950s. One-piece flip top box with early 39 cent price extension. Nicely molded in glossy silver and clear plastic with all recessed panel lines. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. It even includes the famous Comet catalog mail order envelope. Comet originally began model production in 1929 with a line of balsa flying models. In the mid-1950s Comet made a beautiful line of small and medium scale aircraft and missile models with colorful boxes. The early issues were in one-piece 'flip-top' boxes, and the later issues and releases were in standard two-piece 'hardboxes' with a lithograph slick glued to the top box. In 1963 Comet sold the plastic kit molds to Aurora, who reissued some but not all of the kits.
