Excellent large-scale model for RC, CO2, free flight, control line or detailed scale display. This model features beautifully die-cut parts on high quality balsa sheet wood, fully formed wire landing gear, a very large sheet of excellent vacuformed details includind a full engine, wheels pants, cowling and more, fully finished main and tail whees, all required metal hardware, finished hardwood thrust button, control line hardware, plastic propeller (for rubber power), control surface hinge material, rubber motor, covering tissue, an very large and colorful decal sheet (in amazing 'near mint' condition) and of course Sterling's legendary quality plans with full instructions. The kit has never been started. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the sealed bags. The parts that were not factory sealed have been inventoried complete including decals and instructions. Sterling was a famous manufacturer who got started during the 1930/40s flying model craze. They continued to produce very popular kits for decades, but eventually they fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s.

This is an excellent high-definition resin model manufactured in Belgium by Precision Models. They produced mostly German subjects, diorama parts and some figures. Jean-Pierre Dirkx was the founder and made many of the masters for Francois Verlinden.

From the excellent website www.daveswarbirds.com: The Aichi D1A or Navy Type 94/96 Carrier Bomber (Allied code name "Susie") was a Japanese carrier-based dive bomber of built in 1934/5). A single-engine, two-seat biplane based on the Heinkel He 50, it was produced by Aichi for the Imperial Japanese Navy, remaining in service as trainers at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The D1A was produced in two variants, the D1A1 (Navy Type 94 Carrier Bomber), and the D1A2 (Navy Type 96 Carrier Bomber, sometimes referred to as the D2A.). The D1A was primarily used in the Second Sino-Japanese War and up to the time Japan entered World War II in 1941. At the beginning of the Pacific War, all of the remaining D1A1s were decommissioned and most of the D1A2s were retired from the front lines and served primarily in training units. The exception was 68 of the D1A2 model that operated as a second-line support until being retired in 1942.

From the excellent website www.daveswarbirds.com: The Aichi S1A1 Denko (Bolt of Light) was intended to be the replacement for the Nakajima J1N1-S Gekko, filling the role of a radar-equipped night fighter to combat the American B-29 raids. Development time increased while trying to overcome the shortcomings (insufficient power) of the Navy's requested engines to be used, resulting in no aircraft being completed before the war ended. Both of the S1A1 prototypes were destroyed in separate Allied bombing raids when they were only 70 to 90% complete.
