American Firefighters Hose Reel - Brazil Issue Exc+++ Injection Molded old | ||
| Kikoler issue from Brazil. Molded in the correct white, red and gold. Includes two highly detailed horses, hitch, carriage with frame detail, rubber hose, rope and metal chain, along with two firefighters and a Dalmatian dog. This kit has never been started. It is either still in the internally sealed factory bag or has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Marlin first cut the molds in 1952 and issued the six original American Firefighters (Chemical and Ladder, Steamer, Hook and Ladder, Water Tower, Aerial Ladder and Hose Reel) in 1952. Revell signed a marketing agreement with Marlin in 1953. Five of the kit were released with the Revell name and marketing name 'Collectors Kits, Closter N.J.' Revell added the horse parts as they were not originally part of the Marlin issues. The kits made excellent display pieces, but they never caught the imagination of young men like jet aircraft did. The five molds were shipped to Brazil. After run for Kikoler (Revell Brazil's Distributor), they were shipped back to the USA but the molds were lost at sea. | |||

| 1954 issue. NOTE: this kit has assembly and painting. The body has been assembled. The quality of the work is excellent - no gaps or glue showing. The body and many other parts have been painted. The paintwork is not bad but not excellent - I would grade it 'very good'. The paint can be removed with DOT3 brake fluid if you wish. Good builder kit only - not a good collector kit. Inventoried complete with all parts and instructions. NOTE: one small rear bumper bracket has broken off and is missing. Easily replace from plastic stock. | |||

1953 Jaguar XK-120 Highway Pioneers Series 4 Exc Injection Molded old | ||
| 1954 early issue molded in very light green plastic. NOTE: this model has had the wheels and floor painted. There has been no other painting and no assembly. It has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Before the 1950s “model building” as a hobby did not even make the top 10 list of boy’s activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland ‘Highway Pioneers’ car kits was a significant mover in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. They could be built in an hour after dinner and looked like the real car. The “Highway Pioneers” series helped lead to the production of other subjects in plastic. The effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, “model building” was the # 1 past time of American boys. | |||

| The Holy Grail of old Revell models in investment grade condition. I have graded this box NM or 'Near Mint', which means that it has very few, very small flaws. The colors and gloss are flawless. The corners are solid. There has never been a price tag on the box. There is no fading, stains, repairs, touchups or creases. There are tape marks from the factory tape side seals but no tears. First and only issue dated 1959 of this large kit. The molds have been damaged which prevents a reissue. Highly detailed with many moving parts. Includes main space station with opening walls, airlocks, rotating top and bottom sections, rotating radar assembly and fully detailed interior. Interior includes sleeping quarters, living quarters, operations and laboratory areas, terrestrial and celestial observations rooms, conference and dining rooms and more. Also includes 4 other space ships that can be docked/un-docked and displayed with the space station - maintenance vehicle - space taxi - research vehicle and Space ship with airlock. Special large clear stand is included. Molded in the correct silver, teal green, black, orange and clear. Includes decals, instructions and science fiction booklet on how to operate the station. All are in excellent condition. This kit has never been started. It has been 100% inventoried complete with all parts, decals, operations handbook and instructions present. This kit must be shipped insured. | |||

| Most likely the 5th issue of this kit. Note the light green background and 300 price extension. Box artwork is still dated 1956 and is from the "S" issue, but the side panels now show the early issues of the Thermopylae, early incorrect SSBN Abraham Lincoln and several Picture Fleet ships, dating it in about 1960 or 1961. Revell's early ship models were remarkably detailed. This kit is no exception and has excellent detail. Kit comes with preformed ratlines and full rigging instructions. Never started and complete. Includes all parts, assembly/rigging instructions, rigging material and flag sheet. | |||

Douglas DC-7 Pan Am Airport Scene 'S' Kit - DC-7 with Boarding Ramp / Stanchions / Gasoline Truck & Trailer / Tractor with 3 Baggage Carts / Aircraft Tractor and 7 Figures Exc Injection Molded old | ||
| Very rare. The Pan Am Airport Scene was commissioned by Pan Am in the late 1950s and only sold through the airline, not through Revell distributors. This has made the kit one of the rarest Revell kits in existence. It is widely considered an 'S' kit since it was made at that time and features that style of artwork, but the box does not have the yellow 'S' anywhere on it. It contains all the parts and markings listed in the title and makes an incredible airport diorama. The box has excellent color and gloss with no tears or stains. Three corners are solid - the other has been repaired very neatly with clear tape. There is general wear but no other damage. Inside, the parts are as new. All pieces are in the correct gloss silver and the Revell 'Swivel Base Display Stand' is molded in clear. The airport accessories are still sealed in the original factory bag, including the metal axles. The unique decal sheet for this special issue is intact and never cut. It contains Pan Am DC-7 decals and markings for the ground equipment. The decals are flat but have some yellowing. On the back they have the correct Revell markings and kit number to be original for this model. The instructions were missing from this kit, so I used large format paper to make a quality photocopy of an original set of instructions. This copy is the same size as the actual instructions, quite large. It is not many small sheets put together. In all, an excellent investment piece that has never been started and is bag sealed and inventoried complete. Please note that Revell did NOT issue this kit with paper 'carpet' like the United Airlines Flight 707 Airport Scene. The 'carpet' has been intentionally de-listed from the area of the box that describes the contents and has been removed from the instructions as well. Although this kit does not have an 'S' on it, I have included it as an 'S' kit since it is from that time frame and shares the common box art theme. | |||
