Revell Airborne Marines Gift Set - A-4D Skyhawk and HRS-1 Helicopter, 1/48, G271-195

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$295

From 1956 - the first and only issue of this rare holiday season gift set. Contains the A-4D Skyhawk and HRS-1 both with US Marine markings. The box has excellent color and gloss, four solid corners and no tape, price tags, torn or missing litho. However, it has the typical 'cross hatch' marks from the original ribbon that Revell shipped these kits with as well as heavy ribbon marks along the top as shown; there is also moderate wear on the top long side. Inside, the HRS-1 is molded in the correct dark blue plastic and the famous clear Revell base and correct Marines decals for this this issue. The A-4 is molded in the correct medium gray with the clear base and correct and colorful Marines markings for this kit. The instructions are correct also and show these unique decals on the models. The kits have never been started. Both are still in the factory sealed internal bags and include decals and instructions in excellent condition.

Big scale kit with a 35.5 inch wingspan and is designed for free flight (rubber, gas or CO2), control line, R/C or static scale. Features die cut quality balsa printwood parts, factory-cut stringers and spars, die-cut plywood pieces, fully formed wire landing gear struts, completely finished main and tail wheels & thrust button, metal propeller shaft/rubber hood, thrust washers, hardware & control line parts, plastic propeller, vacuform cowl, spinner, wheel pants and more, rubber motor, hinge material for working control surfaces, clear window material, covering tissue, very large color decal sheet and more. Includes Sterling's superb full-size plans and instructions. Never started. The small parts are still in the factory sealed 'Sterling' clear bag. The parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete and includes all paperwork. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they featured color decals, high-grade die cut balsa, vacuform plastic detail parts, plastic wheels (if required), finished wire landing gear, rubber motor and plastic prop, full size plans with instruction details and full instructions for conversion to RC or control line and more.

Revell USS Pennsylvania BB38 Battleship - Sea Power Issue, 1/426, H422-200

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$125

Rare 1961 Sea Power hardbox release of USS Arizona's famous sister ship. The Pennsylvania was in dry-dock during the December 7th Pearl Harbor attack and survived with minimal damage. She was rebuilt and saw significant action in the Pacific in WWII, steaming over 150,000 miles from 1941 to 1945. It is thought that she may have fired more ammunition than any ship in history and she never once reported 'Not Ready' for any operation or need. After being used as a nuclear test ship at Bikini, she was towed to Kwajalein and sunk. The kit has never been started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals, color flag sheet and instructions.

Jim Shirley Productions USS Chicago CG11 1960s - Guided Missile Cruiser, 1/700, JFL0011

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

$125

Very rare. This kit has a beautifully cast resin main hull and like most resin ships, is considered superior to injection molding. There are numerous other resin details. Includes full instructions with parts guide and illustrated assembly steps. Never started and the parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes all paperwork.

Planet Models Junkers Ju-287 V3 (A-1) - (Ju287V3), 1/72, 068

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$125

Rare, well detailed, high-definition cast resin model. Never started and the parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Junkers Ju287 series was probably the most advanced WWII bomber to actually fly. Development continued until the end of the war; the Soviets captured the remaining aircraft, moved them to the USSR, completed and flew them. This turned out to be key to future Soviet bomber designs.

Eureka Hobby AD-2 Skyraider - 24 Inch Wingspan Class 1/2A Engine Control Line Flying Aircraft

Wood and Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$275

Extremely rare, highly prefabricated kit from post-war Japan. Most likely from the early 1960s. These kits were produced to complete in the saturated American market, and they distinguished themselves by the quality and amount of work already done. This large-scale model can be operated with B or C class engines and features a beautiful aluminum full cowl, pre-shaped and assembled landing metal gear struts with rubber tires & metal hubs, completed hand-soldered metal gas tank, clear vacuform canopy (still excellent and not yellowed), diecut hardwood fuselage bulkheads, horiztonal & vertical stabilizers, elevator & rudder, die-cut fuselage keels, metal hardware packet still factory sealed with a Eureka paper header, finished wood propeller, die-cut wing ribs, die-cut and notched hardwood wing spars, a very large number of other factory cut parts (both large and small), sheeting wood, full size plans, full color insignia in the original Eureka envelope and more. Never started and complete. Eureka Hobby made a large line of giant scale gas powered models; they were not inexpensive, which is what makes them very rare today. This Bearcat was $8 in the early 1960s. Other aircraft produced, along with the wingspans and price are as follows: F4U Corsair (31" $10), Me-109E (36" $8), FW-190 (36" $8 and 26" $5.95, AD-4 Skyraider (36" $8), AD-2 Skyraider (24.5" $4.95), L-17 Navion (33" $8), F-94C Starfire with an all metal body and wings for Tiger-Jet engine (31" and $19.95, DC-6B (73", 59" long, four tanks, aluminum cowls, shock absorbing gear, four props for $47.50 - I had one of these, it was an amazing kit), Super DC-3 (61" $29.95, Fairchild Packet Transport (56" $29.50), C-45 Twin Beech (45" $28), Military DC-3 or C-47 (48" $24.50), SA-16 Albatross (54" $25.95), P-2V4 Neptune (51" $21.50), Commando (62" $28), Mig-15 (all metal body and wing, designed for Tiger Jet engine, 36" $22.50), F-84E Thunderjet (37.5" for Dyna-Jet fully enclosed engine and has rear aluminum fuselage $22.50) and finally a B-29 - the line flagship. This model had a 7 foot wingspan, was 59" long, was entirely wood planked and had numerous special features - all for only $39.50. San Diego Model Shop was at least one of the US distributors for these models.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$30

1/700 scale waterline model that is highly detailed and finely molded. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Unyo started life as the Yawata Maru, one of a class of Japanese ocean liners that were built for the Nippon Yusen KK line. She was launched on October 31, 1939 from her builder, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. at Nagasaki. She did see peacetime service as an ocean liner for a short period on the Pacific route to America. After war was declared, Yawata Maru was rebuilt at Kure Naval Yard as the Taiyo-class escort carrier Unyo. She had a very active war career but was sunk by two torpedoes from the submarine USS Barb on September 17, 1944.
