Aurora-Canada issue from the mid 1960s. Great, classic box art by Jo Kotula that made these kits so famous and collectible today. Molded in gloss silver and clear, with a clear 'triangle-based' Aurora 'World' stand. Never started. Inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Aurora of Canada kits were addressed "Aurora Plastics of Canada LTD. Toronto, Rexdale, Ontario." The boxes, plastic parts and instructions were made in Canada. Some decals are clearly marked "Aurora of Canada" (like these) but others are not.

Still the only model kit ever made of this fascinating aircraft. The Ki-64 experimental heavy fighter was one of the most advanced and unusual Japanese wartime aircraft. The power plant was the 2350 hp Kawasaki Ha-201, which was two Ha-40 12 cylinder liquid-cooled engines mounted in tandem and driving two contra-rotating propellers. The forward prop, driven by the rear engine, was variable pitch while the rear prop was driven by the front engine and was fixed pitch. The steam vapor cooling system used water and the wing and flap surfaces for cooling. Five flights were made starting in December 1943. On the last flight, a fire started in the rear engine. An emergency landing saved the airplane, but repairs were not completed before the end of the war. This is a limited edition injection molded model featuring very fine recessed panel lines, vac canopy and full decals. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Limited run plastic model that is well molded and includes with resin and photoetched details, paint guide and a large, extensive decal sheet. The Ar-95 was designed as a two seat recon/torpedo bomber and first flew in 1936. Six were sent to Spain and served in the Condor Legion. Ironically, the German Navy and Air Force did not order the aircraft. Foreign orders came in from Chile and Turkey, only the Chilean aircraft were delivered. The ones destined for Turkey were pressed into Luftwaffe service as trainers.

Both include decals and instructions. A very nice kit of a rare subject. The Fairey Battle may have been state-of-the-art in 1936, but by the onset of WWII it was badly outclassed in every way. Losses were so high that by mid/late 1940 they were all but completely withdrawn from front-line service. However, there was a need for training and 100 Battles were built as dual-control trainers with separate cockpits. Another 266 target towing variants were also supplied.
