1/32 #09348 Life-Like
![]() Mercedes Benz SSK Sportswagen (ex-Pyro) Sealed Mint Injection Molded old
| Still factory sealed. 1970s Life-Like issue using the original 1966 Pyro molds. At this point, Life-Like was no longer putting 'Licensed by Pyro Plastics' on the box sides. Features detailed chassis, complete motor and interior and a removable hood. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of it's kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. | |||

The Victoria was designed with a rear seat for two passengers, a raised front drivers seat and was mainly used for pleasure. The kit consists of black injection molded spoke wheels and clear carriage lamps, die cut cloth for the top, die cut flexible 'leather' plastic for the spring leaves, mud guards, body sides, wood parts all cut to shape, formed wire parts, leatherette upholstering material, red seat covering cloth, shafts, full size plans and detailed instructions. Measures 7 inches long when assembled. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including plans and instructions. Mod-Ac was a manufacture of early hobby kits out of Los Angeles California. During World War II they issued a well known kit line of military vehicles. ![]() HMS Campbeltown (USS Buchanan) Destroyer Exc Injection Molded old
| 1971 issue. Large scale and highly detailed kit of the historic four-pipe destroyer. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Originally the USS Buchanan Four-Piper, she was traded in the famous Lend-Lease program for the use of British bases. On March 8, 1942, the Campbeltown sailed up the Loire River. Her mission was to destroy the Normandie Drydock, a possible haven for the Tirpitz which was holed up on Norway at this time. The Campbeltown was disguised as a German warship and the bow was packed with 8500 lbs of high explosive depth charges. Under a RAF diversion, Campbeltown fought her way up the river and rammed the dock doors at full speed. Charges at the stern sank the back of the ship and she was wedged in the dock. During a German inspection 8 hours later, the charges went off, scattering parts of the ship up to one mile away. The dock was rendered useless to the Tirpitz, who now had to stay in Norway. | |||

![]() Blackburn NA-39 Buccaneer - Craftmaster Issue Exc+ Injection Molded old
| One of the more dramatic Craftmaster boxes. A British carrier launches heavily battle-damaged Buccaneers with enemy ships within visual range. Other Buccaneers are taking heavy and accurate fire from the enemy, while one ship is engulfed in flames. Propeller driven aircraft fall burning from the sky. Kit features opening unique rotating bomb bay, folding wings and working arresting hook. NOTE: the inside walls of the cockpit have been painted. Paint quality is good. It could be painted over or stripped in DOT3 brake fluid or other safe stripper. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The Buccaneer was the world's first purpose designed low level 'below the radar' bomber. Low level strike aircraft have a shorter airframe life limit due to the stresses of low level flying, so the Buccaneer was designed to be very strong and even had many sub-assemblies milled from solid metal. | |||
1/72 #F248 Frog
![]() Me-262A - 1st Staffel/1 Grouppe/KG51 or 3rd Staffel/JG7 1945 - Red Series Good++ Injection Molded old
| Includes decals for both aircraft and a color painting guide on the box bottom. As with most Frog kits, this one has fine panel line detail and no rivets, so it builds up to a realistic model. This kit has not been started. The parts are either still in the factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Frog is considered the father of injection molded model kits. The Lines Brothers opened Frog in 1932, capitalizing on the fever caused by Lindberg's solo transatlantic flight. Almost overnight the western populations became 'Air-Minded', and anything aviation was in high demand. Frog created a quality line of stick and tissue rubber powered aircraft and gliders as well as innovative ready-to-fly rubber powered aircraft that required no assembly. The box even contained a built-in rubber motor winder and fuselage holder. Model airplane flight competitions were popular in Great Britain, and one category was 'Rise Off the Ground', or ROG. By changing this to 'Flies Right Off the Ground', the FROG name was born. In 1936 Frog created a line of injection molded plastic models, the first such kit line in the world (Hawk sold a line of injection molded aircraft models in 1934 but they were factory assembled and painted). Named 'Penguin' after the bird that does not fly, the kits were innovative beyond the means of production. At a time when models were simply built by wingspan, the Penguin line was a constant 1/72 scale. Furthermore, a large 1/72 Short S.30 Empire class flying boat contained a full interior and lights! A line of accessories such as AA guns, tractors, hanger, ambulance, sound locator, searchlights and lighting kits were quickly added to the line. WWII caused a pause in production. After the war the box color changed from silver to green, and Penguin kits were also marketed in the USA. Production ended in 1950. Frog quickly expanded and released the Red, Orange, Black, Green, Gold Token, Spin and Comet series as well as Trail Blazers and several others. It is noteworthy that while most manufactures in the 1940s/50 were making toy-like models, Frog attempted to make very realistic models. For example, 'detailing' kits with excessively large rivets was once very popular. Frog ignored this trend and continued to mold aircraft with fine panel lines and no rivets. As a result, Frog kits can be built into very realistic replicas. Production ended in the late 1970s, but Frog molds are still in use around the world. | |||
