| Kit includes Stab/Stukageschwader 2 Hans Rudel and Hungarian 102/1 Dive Bomber Squadron (1943) markings. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts decals and instructions. Frog is considered the father of injection molded model kits. Frog is considered the father of injection molded model kits. The Lines Brothers opened Frog in 1932, capitalizing on the fever caused by Lindberg's solo transatlantic flight. Almost overnight the western populations became 'Air-Minded', and anything aviation was in high demand. Frog created a quality line of stick and tissue rubber powered aircraft and gliders as well as innovative ready-to-fly rubber powered aircraft that required no assembly. The box even contained a built-in rubber motor winder and fuselage holder. Model airplane flight competitions were popular in Great Britain, and one category was 'Rise Off the Ground', or ROG. By changing this to 'Flies Right Off the Ground', the FROG name was born. In 1936 Frog created a line of injection molded plastic models, the first such kit line in the world (Hawk sold a line of injection molded aircraft models in 1934 but they were factory assembled and painted). Named 'Penguin' after the bird that does not fly, the kits were innovative beyond the means of production. At a time when models were simply built by wingspan, the Penguin line was a constant 1/72 scale. Furthermore, a large 1/72 Short S.30 Empire class flying boat contained a full interior and lights! A line of accessories such as AA guns, tractors, hanger, ambulance, sound locator, searchlights and lighting kits were quickly added to the line. WWII caused a pause in production. After the war the box color changed from silver to green, and Penguin kits were also marketed in the USA. Production ended in 1950. Frog quickly expanded and released the Red, Blue, Orange, Black, Green, Gold Token, Spin and Comet series as well as Trail Blazers and several others. It is noteworthy that while most manufactures in the 1940s/50 were making toy-like models, Frog attempted to make very realistic models. For example, 'detailing' kits with excessively large rivets was once very popular. Frog ignored this trend and continued to mold aircraft with fine panel lines and no rivets. As a result, Frog kits can be built into very realistic replicas. Production ended in the late 1970s, but Frog molds are still in use around the world. | |||

The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including plans. Fred Megow was a famous pioneer in the model aircraft field from the late 1920s and a very early manufacture for HO scale trains in the 1930s. His product lines of semi-prefabricated, solid and stick and tissue kits won him national and extensive world wide distribution - possibly the first modern model manufacture to achieve this. His fascinating story involves trying novel and untested marketing ideas in the Great Depression, followed my explosive world-wide growth. Mr. Megow was a true pioneer in the early days of modeling and a leader in the low price field so that every boy could afford a kit during those difficult times. Megow also produced scale operating train and trackside kits, ship models (large and small) and automotive subjects. Megow's catalogs claim that they were pioneers in HO scale, and there is documentation to support this fact. Megow's early HO train kits served not only to promote this now-popular scale nationally, but were among the very first train kits. Model train kits were responsible for the explosion in model railroad popularity in the late 1930s - please see the article in this website about these kits.

![]() HMS Campbeltown (USS Buchanan) Destroyer Exc Injection Molded old
| 1971 issue. Large scale and highly detailed kit of the historic four-pipe destroyer. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Originally the USS Buchanan Four-Piper, she was traded in the famous Lend-Lease program for the use of British bases. On March 8, 1942, the Campbeltown sailed up the Loire River. Her mission was to destroy the Normandie Drydock, a possible haven for the Tirpitz which was holed up on Norway at this time. The Campbeltown was disguised as a German warship and the bow was packed with 8500 lbs of high explosive depth charges. Under a RAF diversion, Campbeltown fought her way up the river and rammed the dock doors at full speed. Charges at the stern sank the back of the ship and she was wedged in the dock. During a German inspection 8 hours later, the charges went off, scattering parts of the ship up to one mile away. The dock was rendered useless to the Tirpitz, who now had to stay in Norway. | |||

![]() Supermarine Swift Ground Attack Fighter Good+++ Injection Molded old
| Very cleanly molded kit that builds very nicely. The model has excellent fit and recessed and raised panel lines. Can be assembled with or without landing gear. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The Swift was a very early jet fighter to replace the Supermarine Attacker. A very capable aircraft, the Swift suffered numerous accidents early on. As a result, less than 200 were ever built and it did not see combat. It did hold a world speed record for a short time, only to have a Douglas Skyray take the record a few hours later. The problems were ironed out, but by then the Hawker Hunter was proving very capable and there was no need for the Swift and it's RAF service life was short. The most successful version was the PR variant. | |||
