1/30 Best
![]() 1931 Miller (Bowes) Special Indianapolis 500 Winner Exc+ Injection Molded old
| Very rare kit for the advanced collector. In the early 1950s Best Hobby Kits (Best Plastic Corporation of Brooklyn, NY) entered the infant USA plastic model kit market with a series of Indianapolis 500 winners. Six kits were issued - the 1920 Monroe Special, 1922 Murphy Special, 1931 Miller Special, 1935 Gilmore Special, 1940 Maserati Racer and 1953 Fuel Injection Special. The kits were priced correctly and featured 'Super Detailed' parts (for the time). It is unknown why the line failed to sell - it may have been distribution. Best was certainly not a large player in the business. The kit features real rubber Firestone racing tires, decals and some interior detail. The kit has not been started. All parts are still in the original 'krinkle' bag. Complete with decals and instructions. | |||

1/15 #B1 Enterprise
![]() Cycle Miniatures Old High Wheeler Bicycle Exc Injection Molded old
| Very rare. Enterprise was a very successful maker of balsa wood free-flight and control line aircraft models dating well back into the 1930s. In the early 1950s modeling started to change and the Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' got the attention of Enterprise staff. Enterprise maintained it's own museum of rare and extraordinary old time bicycles, so it only seemed natural that the first (and only) two plastic kits from the company would represent bikes. This model is of the High Wheeler, based on the 'Columbia' of 1979 and is very nicely molded and detailed for the time. It includes a display base also. This model and a 'Tandem' were issued in 1954 but did not sell well; production was discontinued after a short run. The kit has never been started. All parts are still sealed in the 'krinkle' bag. The instructions are mint and contain and excellent 'History of the Bicycle' on one side and detailed, illustrated assembly instructions on the other side. | |||
1/32 #C346-100 Pyro
![]() 1931 Cadillac Town Car Good+ Injection Molded old
| 1965 Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of it's kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. In some cases, the specific car and owner is on the box. The model includes real rubber tires, chrome plated, colored and clear parts. Features a nicely detailed molded chassis with suspension, steering linkage and fuel tank, complete motor, spoked wheels, luggage trunk, full interior, dual side mount spare tires and a removable hood or 'bonnet'. NOTE: this kit has minor assembly. The fenders, hood and engine block halves have been assembled. Quality of assembly is well above average with a tight fit and no excess glue. There is no other assembly. Two flat clear windows are missing. All other parts are present and the instructions. I have included flat stock so you can make the two windows. | |||
1/16 #SF-17 Cleveland
![]() Bayles' 1931 Gee Bee Racer Balsa Flying Model Airplane Kit Exc Wood old
| This is a Cleveland 'SF' or 'Scale Flying' model in museum scale of 1/16. The kit came from a long time collector of 1930s and 1940s models and is in exceptional condition. All Cleveland kits were exceptionally complete and this one is no exception. Features very high quality balsa printwood and strip wood, covering material, highest quality plans, all parts required for assembly and decals (if issued with the kit). The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. The Cleveland Model and Supply Company played a pivotal role in the development of true scale models. In 1909 Bleriot’s English Channel flight caused a surge in aviation and model aircraft around the globe. Several companies were ideally positioned to take advantage of the aviation craze. In the USA, Wading River Manufacturing Co. (1909), White Aeroplane (1911), Ideal Model Aeroplane (1911), Broadfield Model Aeroplanes (1919) were among these pioneers, offering everything from plans and parts to complete kits and ARF models. Lindbergh’s 1927 crossing of the Atlantic Ocean caused an even bigger world-wide phenomenon called “The Aviation Craze” that extended up to the start of World War II. Many companies such as Megow, Guillow's and others started right around the time of Lindbergh’s flight. Some of these models flew and flew well, but they all had one thing in common - were generally not accurate scale representations. In 1929, a youngster named Ed Packard had a very advanced dream – to produce incredibly accurate, true scale models that flew perfectly. This radical idea established the world’s longest running single-owner (77 years) model airplane supply business – Cleveland Model and Supply Company. To this day, Cleveland models are treasured as the most accurate flying scale models produced. The fact that Mr. Packard started and successfully grew this business during The Great Depression is a testament to his ideals and business skill. I highly suggest the excellent book called ‘Aviation’s great Recruiter – Cleveland’s Ed Packard’ by H.L. (Herm) Schreiner. It is an excellent history of the man, his company and the times of the Golden Age of Model Aviation. | |||

1/48 #507 O-Lin
![]() Ryan Navion / North American Aviation NA-143 VG Injection Molded old
| Very rare kit for the advanced collector. This is a very hard to fine original O-lin kit in the small box and advertisement for O-lin cement on the top. Production first began in 1949 or just before. O-Lin (Olin) was founded by Paul Lindberg and a Mr. Olsen - hence the company name. Although a producer of flying models in the 1930s, O-lin produced some of the earliest American injection molded kits in the late 1940s. In 1950 the partnership may have ended, because all branding was changed to Lindberg and Paul Lindberg. Inside, the kit is as new and even includes early paper packing material. It is molded in high gloss dark red. I have seen many cases where Paul Lindberg used up the old O-Lin stock, combining different sets of instructions and decals resulting in odd combinations. While I admire his efficiency, it makes does make collecting these unique. This model has the O-Lin box, O-Lin parts and early 'Olin' decals (they say 'Olin' on the front and 'Lindberg Products' on the back!) and very early first logo Lindberg instructions. The kit has never been started and is inventoried complete with all parts, instructions and decals. The Navion was originally produced by North American Aviation as a high performance sport plane, but they sold them to the US Air Force as well. North American sold the rights to Ryan, who continued to successfully produce the aircraft. | |||
1/32 #C299-50 Pyro

This model is nicely detailed and has a tree of chrome parts and clear parts also. The box states that it can be converted to a 'road racing' or slot car. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. NOTE: one very small bumper brace on the body has broken off and missing - the other side is intact so one can be scratch built from stock plastic.
