1/72  #HC1301  Hobby Craft
Twin Mustang F-82G (Ex-Monogram)
Exc   Injection Molded   old
$24

Some molds have a colorful history; this one is no exception. At one point, Monogram leased or sold a set of Corsair molds (from the original 4 Star action kit) to Idea in Korea. Idea modified the molds to fit a tab on each tree with the Idea name. Hobby Craft's kit is the Monogram F-82 with the Idea runner tab. On the outside of many Hobby Craft boxes it says 'Make in South Korea' - obviously Idea is one of the agents who molded kits for HC. Nicely detailed kit featuring finely molded raised details, wing machine guns with removable panel, good cockpit and very good gear well detail, opening canopies and rotating propellers. The model as never been started. The parts are either still in the factory sealed bag or have been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

UPC stood for Universal Powermaster Corporation which was based out of New York City, NY. UPC did not cut their own molds, but bought kits already molded from other manufactures and re-boxed the kits in the USA. Scott Eidson, the famous artist best known for his artwork with Revell, also did UPC box art in the 1960s. All UPC production ended in the 1970s.

Rare. Early issue from 1968. Not the newer reproduction. Contains two large 18 inch long SSTs, one in landing and one in cruise configuration. The Boeing SST was modeled here is the second (2707-200) variant which still had the swing-wing design which proved impractical in this aircraft. The damaging effects of sonic booms over population centers ultimately contributed to the cancellation of the project. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

1/72  #F238  Frog
HS Buccaneer S.Mk 2A / S.Mk 50 RAF or South African Airforce
Exc   Injection Molded   old
$38

Has decals for both Air Forces, No.12 Sq RAF Honington, 1970 and No. 24 Sq SAAF Waterkfloof, 1970. Typical high quality Frog kit with no rivets and fine panel lines for a realistic model. Features steering nose strut, four anti-ship missiles on wing pylons and optional position landing gear. The Buccaneer was the world's first purpose designed low level 'below the radar' bomber. Low level strike aircraft have a shorter airframe life limit due to the stresses of low level flying, so the Buccaneer was designed to be very strong and even had many sub-assemblies milled from solid metal. Kit features opening unique rotating bomb bay, folding wings and working arresting hook. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
1/72  #F188F  Frog
Hawker Hurricane IIC -Tank Buster / Sea Hurricane Night Fighter - Bagged
Exc++   Injection Molded   old
$20

Bagged kit with header. Contains parts and decals for both versions. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Frog is considered the father of injection molded model kits. The Lines Brothers opened Frog in 1932, capitalizing on the fever caused by Lindberg's solo transatlantic flight. Almost overnight the western populations became 'Air-Minded', and anything aviation was in high demand. Frog created a quality line of stick and tissue rubber powered aircraft and gliders as well as innovative ready-to-fly rubber powered aircraft that required no assembly. The box even contained a built-in rubber motor winder and fuselage holder. Model airplane flight competitions were popular in Great Britain, and one category was 'Rise Off the Ground', or ROG. By changing this to 'Flies Right Off the Ground', the FROG name was born. In 1936 Frog created a line of injection molded plastic models, the first such kit line in the world (Hawk sold a line of injection molded aircraft models in 1934 but they were factory assembled and painted). Named 'Penguin' after the bird that does not fly, the kits were innovative beyond the means of production. At a time when models were simply built by wingspan, the Penguin line was a constant 1/72 scale. Furthermore, a large 1/72 Short S.30 Empire class flying boat contained a full interior and lights! A line of accessories such as AA guns, tractors, hanger, ambulance, sound locator, searchlights and lighting kits were quickly added to the line. WWII caused a pause in production. After the war the box color changed from silver to green, and Penguin kits were also marketed in the USA. Production ended in 1950. Frog quickly expanded and released the Red, Blue, Orange, Black, Green, Gold Token, Spin and Comet series as well as Trail Blazers and several others. It is noteworthy that while most manufactures in the 1940s/50 were making toy-like models, Frog attempted to make very realistic models. For example, 'detailing' kits with excessively large rivets was once very popular. Frog ignored this trend and continued to mold aircraft with fine panel lines and no rivets. As a result, Frog kits can be built into very realistic replicas. Production ended in the late 1970s, but Frog molds are still in use around the world.

1/48  #55A-69  Aurora
Messerschmitt Me-109 (Bf-109) Yellow Box Ends- Famous Fighters of All Nations
Exc++   Injection Molded   old
$225

I believe this is the 4th edition of this kit, and the first issue with this Jim Cox boxart. Dates from the mid 1956 with small 'Aurora Line' rectangular logo and 'Famous Fighters of All Nations'. It is interesting that this issue did not carry the standard Aurora 'Northern Lights' logo for 1956 - perhaps it was designed at the end of 1955 and simply left that way. Correctly molded in metallic burgundy and clear with the correct rectangular clear stand. For this issue the factory changed the swastikas on the tail to iron crosses and decals as well. This kit has never been started. It is either still in the internally sealed factory bag or has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
