1970s large-scale issue for rubber or gas free flight, or easily converted to RC using today's tiny and light servos and receivers. This kit features traditional wood/tissue construction, large insignia sheet, detailed full size plans that include text building instructions and additional construction drawings, fully formed & finished main, tail wheels & thrust button, metal propeller shaft/rubber hook, covering tissue, vacuformed canopy in 'near mint' and non-yellowed condition (that is rare; the kit usually comes with a clear sheet of material so you can make your own), plastic flying propeller and scale balsa propeller, rubber motor and more. The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Very rare. This is the smaller version of the famous Comet Zipper, the "A" variant made to run in the smaller Class "A" Category. The kit features traditional balsa wood and tissue construction, detailed full size plans, six sheets of high quality printwood, die-cut plywood firewall/motor mount, stripwood, full-size plans and covering issue. The kit has not been started. It has been inventoried and NOTE: missing the (2) metal motor mounts (simple 'L' brackets) and screws/hardware. All are easily replaced. Rare model from the late 1950s. This is the larger of the two Comet issues in the two piece hardbox. Very nicely molded and detailed for that time with all recessed panel lines, full landing gear, clear canopy, pilot figure, 'The Pod' and more. Includes a large Comet 'Teardrop' display stand. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including all pieces, decals and instructions.

Very rare. This mid 1950s model includes all four kits in the original early Comet one-color flip top boxes. The Comet Gift Sets were well advertised but seldom seen. The kit boxes inside are all in 'Near Mint' to 'Mint' condition. The condition of the models is as follows: PL-4 Skyknight, PL-6 Thunderstreak and PL-5 Skyray: never started and inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. PL-3 Starfire: never started. Inventoried and NOTE: missing two pilot's busts. Otherwise complete with all other pieces, decals and instructions present. The box is graded 'very good' because of the dark stain at the lower left. Please note, this kit must be shipped insured.

Rare early USA plastic model kit. The mid-1950s Comet hardbox is in 'very good+' condition and the kit inside is excellent. This is the larger of the two Comet S2Fs in near 1/48 scale. As with most Comet kits, this one is well molded with all recessed panel detail and no unsightly rivets. Features retractable sonar dome and MAD boom, extensive clear windows, wing search light with clear cover, rocket under-wing load out, rotating propellers and display stand. Molded in gloss silver and clear. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Please note that the box displays better than the 'very good+' grade but is rated as such because is clear tape on the two short sides and one 1" x 1/4" tape tear from the factory sealing tape.
