Thomas Morse S4C Scout -- 24 inch Wingspan Balsa Flying Model Airplane VG Wood old | ||
| Late 50s early 60s stick and tissue flying model. 24 inch wingspan. Never started and complete with all parts and plans. Missing decals. Includes extra parts from another S4C kit also. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufactures, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2011. | |||

| The He-119 was developed as a high speed recon bomber in 1937. The revolutionary design was highly streamlined with the prop driven two couples DB601 engines with a drive shaft through a glazed noze. When the Germans announced a new world speed record by the "He-111U" in late 1937, it was actually the He-119 that set the record. Basic vac kit with white and clear parts - recessed panel details. Never started and 100% complete. | |||

| Still factory sealed but the seal has splits. Mid-1960s hardbox issue with classic Campbell box art. Very well made kit with excellent fit and fine recessed and raised panel lines. Includes plyon display stand; excellent for use in a 1930s Air Racing Diorama. The Ike was built by Ben Howard near the Old Chicago Airport (now Midway) and first flew in competition during the Thompson Trophy Race in 1932. It finished 7th with William Ong at the controls. In 1933 she finished 3rd with Roy Minor as pilot at an average speed 8 mph above 1932. In 1934, she finished yet another 8 mph above '33 with Harold Neumann as pilot and finished 4th in the Thompson. | |||
