1/89 #3663-149 ITC
![]() F-108 Rapier with Booster and Launching Platform Exc++++ Injection Molded old
| Very rare kit from 1960 in exceptional condition. The box is superb with factory gloss and color, four solid corners, no price tags, factory tape marks only with no tape tears or any litho tears. It is free of creases and 'dishing'. The only wear is a very small amount of corner and edge wear and light scuffs. Very interesting kit with raised and recessed panel line detail. The kit comes with the proposed operating zero-length launching system and fall-away rocket booster. The booster is detachable from the F-108 (if you wish). The aircraft has moving canards and the launcher elevates to launching position then back to storage position. Molded in the correct ivory plastic with metal parts for the elevation mechanism. The kit includes the correct decals and instructions as well. The decals have no yellowing and are perfectly flat. ITC packed the decals in a clear bag (with the metal parts) that was smaller than the decals so they are almost always bent. These have the typical fold and have been neatly reinforced with clear tape on the back. The instructions are excellent with typical yellowing, factory folds only and no tears or edge wear. The kit has not been started. It has been inventoried complete with every plastic part, metal part, decals and instructions as well as the Ideal Quality 'Inspection Slip'. The F-108 was a proposed interceptor and escort for the B-70 tri-sonic bomber and ITC was quick to capitalize on this new design. The kit was produced quickly and the rest is history. When the F-108 hit the shelves, it did not look like the design. Photos had been released by the US Air Force of the mock-up that were not available when ITC made the molds. This and the cancellation of the F-108 program lead to a very short release life for the Rapier and ITC quickly pulled it from the shelves. NOTE: shipping insurance is required. | |||

| Comet was a very famous manufacture of flying stick and tissue as well as solid aircraft models. What is less well known is that Comet produced HO equipment during the HO boom of the late 1930s/1940s. This is an excellent kit in an early box from the 1930s with plans drawn by the famous model designer Fred Schlienz. The kit features heavy bristol board sides and car ends that are completely factory decorated for New York Central lines in red, blue, white and black, precut and milled wooden roof, underside and frame, metal ladders, grab irons, steps, brake handle and other small parts, wooden pre-carved brake cylinder, metal sprung trucks and more. Box art is by the famous Jo Kotula who did 1930s covers for the magazine 'Model Airplane News' and later the Aurora box art of the late 1950s. Air Lines kits are all Frog molds that the Lines Brothers imported to the USA between 1964-1966. The kits, decals and instructions were made in England, then imported to the USA where Testors created the boxes with the colorful trading cards on the back. There are one or two trading cards on each box which show the boxart but not the advertising/logo. Some kits contain a Testors color painting guide also, but it is not specific to any model. | |||

![]() Swordfish Mk.1 - 810(TSR) Sq HMS Ark Royal 1041 or No. 701 Catapult Flight HMS Hood 1938 - Red Series VG Injection Molded old
| Nicely done kit with 67 parts. Includes decals for both historic aircraft and a color painting guide as well. This kit has not been started. NOTE: missing stand base. The aircraft parts are inventoried 100% complete with all decals and instructions. Frog is considered the father of injection molded model kits. The Lines Brothers opened Frog in 1932, capitalizing on the fever caused by Lindberg's solo transatlantic flight. Almost overnight the western populations became 'Air-Minded', and anything aviation was in high demand. Frog created a quality line of stick and tissue rubber powered aircraft and gliders as well as innovative ready-to-fly rubber powered aircraft that required no assembly. The box even contained a built-in rubber motor winder and fuselage holder. Model airplane flight competitions were popular in Great Britain, and one category was 'Rise Off the Ground', or ROG. By changing this to 'Flies Right Off the Ground', the FROG name was born. In 1936 Frog created a line of injection molded plastic models, the first such kit line in the world (Hawk sold a line of injection molded aircraft models in 1934 but they were factory assembled and painted). Named 'Penguin' after the bird that does not fly, the kits were innovative beyond the means of production. At a time when models were simply built by wingspan, the Penguin line was a constant 1/72 scale. Furthermore, a large 1/72 Short S.30 Empire class flying boat contained a full interior and lights! A line of accessories such as AA guns, tractors, hanger, ambulance, sound locator, searchlights and lighting kits were quickly added to the line. WWII caused a pause in production. After the war the box color changed from silver to green, and Penguin kits were also marketed in the USA. Production ended in 1950. Frog quickly expanded and released the Red, Orange, Black, Green, Gold Token, Spin and Comet series as well as Trail Blazers and several others. It is noteworthy that while most manufactures in the 1940s/50 were making toy-like models, Frog attempted to make very realistic models. For example, 'detailing' kits with excessively large rivets was once very popular. Frog ignored this trend and continued to mold aircraft with fine panel lines and no rivets. As a result, Frog kits can be built into very realistic replicas. Production ended in the late 1970s, but Frog molds are still in use around the world. | |||

| Very well detailed and finely molded kits. Features complete cockpit and full interior including troop benches. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag including decals and instructions. The Waco CG-4 was designed and initially built by Waco Aircraft Company of Troy, OH. It first saw action in Sicily and the operation was termed a disaster. This likely had more to do with planning than the actual glider. Missions in Europe, including D-Day, went much better. The glider was even deployed to Burma. It could carry up to 13 troops, or a jeep and four men, or a 75mm Field Gun. | |||
