TMHK Picnic Jr - 45.6 Inch Wingspan R/C Aircraft by Tokyo Mokei Models Inc

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

Very, very rare- contains traces of the element 'unobtainium.' There is no internet or known auction history of one of these kits changing hands. Purchased new by a US Navy officer in about 1961 in Tokyo, Japan. He equipped himself nicely for a future R/C hobby upon his return to the states, but never built this kit. Features a large (1160 mm) wingspan and is specifically designed for R/C flight on a ".9 to 1.5" (sic) size gas engine (should be .09 to .15- AB). This was a deluxe and highly prefabricated kit for that time with very high quality wood parts, of which 90% or more are completely cut out with the part number stamped in ink on each one. Woods are hardwood, plywood and balsa. Many of the parts are still held together with the unique color-tinted clear tape from this era of Japanese modeling. Other cut and shaped parts are still sealed in a plastic bag with a 'Picnic' header. This kit has sheeted fuselage sides which are also completely cut out. There is a sealed bag of hardware, sealed balloon wheels, plenty of silkspan-style covering material, fully formed wire landing gear and of course a very large set of actual size plans that includes R/C equipment placement guides. The kit has never been started. Some parts are still in the factory sealed bags and others are still factory taped as they were at the factory. The loose parts have been inventoried all present. Includes plans.
