For the advanced collector. Very rare and from the early 1930s. Any kit from this era is hard to find, and this one is in exceptional condition. The box is complete with all 6 flaps, no crushing and very little wear. Inside, the model features a still unopened tube of wood glue, high quality printwood and stripwood, balsa stock as required, fully finished wheels, excellent factory-carved wood prop, some bamboo (although most is balsa), a tiny paper sack containing hardware and carved thrust button and excellent full size plans with numerous building notes and tips. Never started and includes all items listed.

Large scale kit with very good detail and many operating features. The doors open and close to show full interior detail, wing flaps lower and raise, elevators and rudder move, wheels and prop rotate and more. With two positionable figures. Engineered to be motorized with spinning prop and working wing landing light. Battery compartment is cleverly hid on the lower side of the fuselage behind the cabin. Also comes with optional parts for non-motorized version. Never started. Inventoried and the aircraft is complete with all parts, decals and instructions but NOTE: missing display stand. Also NOTE: one 1/2 of the vertical fin is broken off at the base. The part is present and fits back perfectly for an easy repair. Tilt (and also Marui) did not furnish the kit with the motor or light; they had to be purchased separately. The motor is a common Mabuchi FA-13 and any small 1.5v railway light would work.

1972 issue with fantastic box art. Well detailed kit for that time and 21 inches long when assembled. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. USS Growler was captained by Commander Howard W. Gilmore. On February 7, 1943, Growler was patrolling on the surface in the Pacific when an enemy vessel was spotted close aboard. The enemy changed course to ram, but Gilmore torpedoed her, leaving her crippled in the water. However, the ship opened fire with .60 caliber machine gun fire from close range, mortally wounding Commander Gilmore. His dying words were 'Take her down'. He remained on the bridge while the sub crash-dove to safety. For this he received the Navy Cross, Gold Star, and was recommended for a posthumous Medal of Honor.

Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they were very complete.

Very rare kit from 1932. For the advanced collector. Any model from this era is desirable and this one is complete and never started. At this time balsa was gaining rapidly in popularity over hardwood and bamboo, but this kit was during that transition - it has both balsa and bamboo parts Features excellent full size plans, printwood, excellent factory carved prop, factory carved spinner, strip wood, two paper envelopes with smaller parts (one still stamped 'Supermarine'), balsa block and beautiful blue covering tissue. Complete and never started. The box says "Ideal" as shown but only on the end and says "Ideal Combination." It is the right size and color for Ideal boxes of that era, but it is a puzzle. I have never seen a box exactly like it before.
