 Interceptor E - 39 Inch High Rocket Kit Sealed Mint Multi_Media new | ||
| Estes took one of the most popular rocket kits of all time - the Astron Interceptor - and almost doubled the size to 39 inches (99 cm) tall. Very faithful to the original classic, this one has injection molded nose cone, wing tip pods, rocket nozzle, etc as the original and has several huge decal sheets. Other parts are cardstock and cardboard body tubes with plastic parachute. Never opened, still factory sealed. | |||

| Second issue hardbox from roughly 1960. This issue used the same dramatic box artwork as the original issue 'S' kit and is molded in the same colors - white, light wood tan and dark brown wood. As with most early Revell sailing ship kits, it is very nicely molded and well detailed. Includes rigging instructions, rigging material and vacuform billowing sails. Trainer Glider - 11.5 inch Wingspan Balsa Flying Model Glider Exc Wood old | ||
| 1970s issue from the Comet 'Build-N-Fly' line. An excellent flyer. Never started and complete with all parts and instructions. Comet was a famous manufacture of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998. Kit features traditional wood/tissue construction, detailed full size plans, building instructions, hardware (if required), tissue and propeller. The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. | |||

Air Lines manufacturing history: The kits, decals and instructions were made in England, then imported to the USA where Testors created the boxes with the colorful trading cards on the back. 1953 Jaguar XK-120 Highway Pioneers Series 4 Exc Injection Molded old | ||
| 1954 early issue molded in very light green plastic. NOTE: this model has had the wheels and floor painted. There has been no other painting and no assembly. It has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Before the 1950s “model building” as a hobby did not even make the top 10 list of boy’s activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland ‘Highway Pioneers’ car kits was a significant mover in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. They could be built in an hour after dinner and looked like the real car. The “Highway Pioneers” series helped lead to the production of other subjects in plastic. The effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, “model building” was the # 1 past time of American boys. | |||
