F7U-1 Cutlass VG Injection Molded old | ||
| Rare first issue hardbox with script Lindberg logo only. In the 1930s, Paul Lindberg was designing, building and flying stick and tissue aircraft like so many other men and boys of the time. His plans appear in Popular Aviation magazine and he made a good name for himself. When injection molding showed the way to increased kits sales in the late 1940s/early 1950s, he quickly teamed up with Mr. Olsen to create 'O-lin' models. Ray Gaedke was one the the early artists for O-lin. In the early 1950s Paul Lindberg had control and had his name as the logo. The first logo is the one on this kit - 'Lindberg' in script with 'Products' arched across the top and 'Incorporated' arched across the bottom to create a broken circle around the script. Ray Gadke continued his bold and colorful artwork for Lindberg and created many timeless classics. Although the early Lindberg kits were all ex-Olin, Lindberg continued the O-lin practice of placing large 1/48 scale kits in a very, very small box such as this kit. The model is molded in an incredible deep gloss blue. It has never been started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. | |||

| Large and well detailed model of the famous Cold War supersonic bomber. Although the USSR agreed to remove the refueling probes from the Backfires and insisted that they were not to be used for strategic strikes, we now know that the probes could be attached in minutes and Backfires normally trained for attacks on the USA. This is the 'Navalized' version with the large AS-6 supersonic anti-ship cruise missile with either active radar homing or anti-radar versions. Nicely molded kit with all recessed detail. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. | |||

North American P-51D Mustang - 22 inch Wingspan Gas or Rubber Powered Wooden Aircraft Kit Good+ Wood old | ||
| 1970s large scale issue for rubber or gas free flight, or easily converted to RC using today's tiny and light servos and receivers. Box art is by Locher, who did a great deal of the Monogram box artwork also. Kit features traditional wood/tissue construction with all die cut parts, 'Tube-O-Matic' fuselage construction and 'Rugged Super X Simplified Non-Warping Wing' construction, colorful insignia, detailed full size plans, building instructions, wheels, hardware, tissue and propeller. The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Comet was a famous manufacture of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998. | |||

Experience gained with the Southampton and Scapa flying boats was put to good use in design of the all-metal Stranraer. Although replaced operationally with the Sunderland, examples of this aircraft were used till 1942 in WWII and many flew long after the war was over. Never started. UPC stood for Universal Powermaster Corporation which was based out of New York City, NY. UPC did not cut their own molds, but bought kits already molded from other manufactures and re-boxed the kits in the USA. Scott Eidson, the famous artist best known for his artwork with Revell, also did almost all the UPC box art in the 1960s, but this kit is unusual in that it kept the Frog Green series artwork. All UPC production ended in the 1970s. | |||
