Berkeley Dr. Walter Good's Royal Rudder Bug - 62 Inch Wingspan RC Flying Aircraft

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

Rare. 1950s model of this very early radio control aircraft with a 62 inch wingspan. Dr. Walter Good, a famous pioneer of radio controlled flight, designed this aircraft. In the 1930s he won several National competitions - often his design was the only one to fly properly. Please note the similarity in design to the early free-flight models - most early RC models had this appearance. This type of stability was required due to the difficult nature of RC control in the late 1930s. The kit features die-cut balsa and plywood, metal hardware, cut out windshield, full size plans, formed landing gear and covering material. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions/plans present. Berkeley is a very famous manufacturer of flying model kits from the Golden Age of flying aviation, about 1932-1954. Founded in 1933 by William Effinger, the company was quite progressive in producing quality kits - it was likely the Berkeley 'Buccaneer' was the first gas powered model in kit form. In the later 1930s, Effinger acquired the services of a very talented Henry Struck. Struck went on to design numerous award-winning kits under the Berkeley name. Berkeley weathered the post WWII recession and emerged as a major kit producer in the late 1940 and 1950s. These were great years for Berkeley and they produced some incredible and large kits. The company went bankrupt in about 1960 however. Fox engines (Duke Fox) bought the company and released the kits alongside his own FOX models and engines. This arrangement did not last, and in the early 1960s the Berkeley name disappeared from hobby shop shelves.

Billing Boats US Coast Guard MLB Motor Life Boat 44 Feet With Running Hardware - 28.8 Inch Long Ship For R/C, 1/20, 586

Wood and Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Out of production. This is not the common small scale model but the rare, very large 1/20 scale issue. It is highly detailed and can be built static or remote control. Excellent kit with plastic one-piece hull and deck, extensive brass and plastic small fittings, wood stock where required, highly detailed instructions and decals. The kit has never been started. The small parts that were factory sealed are still in the sealed bags and plastic fittings containers. The large parts that were not factory sealed have been inventoried complete including decals and instructions. Includes an NOS aftermarket running hardware set that is very similar to the "Model Expo" set. It includes a RS-540 (S4) large electric motor, metal motor clamp and two motor sticks (wood). The US Coast Guard 44 Foot MLB is a high endurance boat designed to perform search and rescue missions in very adverse weather and sea states. It is self-bailing and self-righting. Built for the USCG by the Coast Guard Yard in Curtis Bay, MD, the first 44 footer was put into service in 1961. The design was so successful that 110 were built and only one has ever been taken out of service - a testimony to the durability of the design and construction methods. Four MLBs were sold to foreign governments for search and rescue.

MPC 1975 Chevrolet Vega Promo, 1/25

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

Amazing condition, true dealer promotional model with the original box. One owner and obtained new from a Lexington, KY dealership in 1975 by a discriminating collector. It is still wrapped in the original tissue paper and is in factory-new condition. It was never used, displayed or played with and the tires reflect that. Color and gloss are like new, as is the chrome, clear and tires. Complete with all parts. Although I can't imagine how it could be better, I'll grade it 9.8 out of 10 as I hesitate to call anything perfect. The box is 'very good' and is stamped "75 VEGA MEDIUM RED" on the end flap. There are no MPC markings, but I have listed it as that manufacturer as a guess since they marketed this car as an assembly it in this scale.
