1/72 B201-300 LS Kaiten Miniature Submarine Kairyu

Rare. One of only 8 ship kits ever issued by LS. The original kit dated from the 1960s; this may be the second issue and appears to be from the early 1970s. Operating model can be powered by a rubber motor which is included or the 'power egg' that attaches to the underside (not included). It appears to have a sort of automatic diving system - the diving planes are shown to move and there are clearly buoyancy chambers and free flood areas in the hull. Activation of the rubber motor is by the periscope. Kit is nicely done and includes two torpedoes that mount on the lower sides. Inside, the kit is like new. It has not been started. All small parts are still in the factory sealed bag, the metal parts, glue and rubber band are in a smaller sealed bag. The upper hull (molded in dark gray) was never factory sealed. Other parts are molded in red and dark gray. The kit has never been started. Decals and instructions are included; the instructions are on the inside of the box top.
