Comet Stinson Voyager Struct-O-Speed Flying Aircraft - Coke Bottle Issue, Q4 plastic model kit

Q4 Comet Stinson Voyager Struct-O-Speed Flying Aircraft - Coke Bottle Issue

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

1950s/very early 1960s issue with a ~14.75 inch wingspan. Comet advertised that the Struct-O-Speed series 'Puts Itself Together...That Quick!' on the box top, and it was not a completely idle boast - they were highly prefabricated, built in a fraction of the time of regular stick-and-tissue models and flew well if properly built and trimmed. Features high quality die cut balsa sheet parts, pre-formed wire landing gear strut, fully formed wooden wheels, plastic prop and thrust button and excellent plans with instructions and flying tips. Never started and complete. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998. The entire 1950s "Q" line included (at the date of this kit) Q1 Piper Cub, Q2 Taylorcraft, Q3 Aeronca, Q4 Stinson Voyager, Q5 Cessna, Q6 Fokker DVIII, Q7 Beech Bonanza, Q8 Ryan Navion, Q9 Globe Swift, Q11 F-51 Mustang, Q12 Spitfire, Q13 Thunder Jet (F-84) and Q14 F-86D Saber Jet. Some of these kits were reissued later with different part numbers and various internal parts changes.
