Falcon Model Airplane Co 1/48 P-51D Mustang - Solid Wood Model - Bagged, A-4 plastic model kit

1/48 A-4 Falcon Model Airplane Co P-51D Mustang - Solid Wood Model - Bagged

Wood Model Kit

Bagged kit. Features full-size, three-view plans with wing and fuselage templates, factory-cut wooden fuselage, wings, horizontal and vertical stabilizers, pre-formed main gear wheels, plastic prop and printwood with gear struts, doors, etc. The kit has never been started and is 100% complete with all parts and plans. Planes have some tape on the back holding the overhead fuselage view in; it is done so well you can't tell unless you turn the plans over. Bill Wonacott drew the excellent plans. Little is known about Falcon Model Airplane Company. But thanks to Dusty Rhodes, we know that they were around as early as 1932 and actively advertising in Popular Aviation with a good sized add. Headquartered at 9610 Division Street, Portland, Oregon, they had a line of flying model kits and eventually solids. The bigger ships in the flying line appear to be quite deluxe, featuring dummy engines, aluminum spun cowlings and for power "The Prime Mover," a new gearless rubber power system that claims to double the flight endurance. Models in 1932 included the Monocoupe 10, Lockheed Orion (both $2.25) and a smaller line of 9" wingspan kits at 50 cents each, featuring the P-6E Hawk, Akron Fighter (Sparrowhawk), A-8 Attack, Gee Bee Racer, Lockheed Vega, Spad, SE-5, Hawker Fury, Curtiss Helldiver, Boeing P-12C, Ben Howard Racer, Lockheed Sirius, Fokker D-VII and Albatross D-III. Falcon eventually moved to Long Beach, CA.
