1/87 5640 Walthers 73' Combination Heavyweight Baggage Coach - New York Central - HO Craftsman Kit

Wood and Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Rare Walthers 'golden age' craftsman kit from 1944. Builds an accurate prototype of this heavyweight NYC Combine. Features 'Armite' car sides with all doors and windows cut out recessed window frames and exterior detail. Also included fully milled hardwood clerestory roof and underside parts, pre-cut hardwood floor and car ends, other wood stock as needed, a bag of cast metal and wooden details for the roof and underside, working diaphragms, a sealed bottle of Walther's Pullman Green paint and more. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and plans/instructions. NOTE: the plans are for an 80' Pullman car. I do not know if Walthers intended the Combine to be built from these plans or not - often one set of instructions served many kits during this era. If you have an interest in these kits and the revolution they created in modeling, please read the article about their history located on this website.
