1/48 400 Hawk Grumman F9F Panther Flip Box Issue Exc+ Injection Molded old Early rare Hawk kit. Hawk was active in manufacturing wooden kits and wooden kits with some injection molded details before all-injection molded kits came around. Among Hawk's early plastic kits were the F9F and F-90 in the flip top box. Oddly, the kits are more famous for the fact that Aurora purchased the F9F and F-90 and copied these molds to create their first two plastic kits. The earliest Hawk plastic kits were in these on-piece flip top boxes. The boxes proved fragile and were quickly replaced with sturdy two-piece boxes. This makes a flip-top box in excellent condition very rare - this is one of the finest that I have seen. Correctly molded in a beautiful medium blue with clear stand, stand arm, nose probe and canopy and olive drab pilot. Never started.
