1/600 X481-800 Airfix RMS Mauretania Ocean Liner Exc Injection Molded old Rare Airfix Japan issue. The Mauretania and her sister Lusitania were considered the finest and most beautiful ships of the day, both inside and out. Launched in 1907, she quickly won the Blue Riband from the 'Kaiser Wilhelm II' for the fastest Atlantic crossing. For more than 22 years she was the Queen of the Atlantic liners. She saw extensive service in WWI as an armed cruiser, transport and hospital ship. In 1922 she was converted from coal to oil and set another record in 1931 when she crossed the Atlantic 4 times in one month. Sadly, she was scrapped in 1935 as the Queen Mary neared completion.
