Sterling Beechcraft Bonanza - 22 Inch Wingspan With Operating Landing Gear For R/C or Free Flight, A3-249 plastic model kit

A3-249 Sterling Beechcraft Bonanza - 22 Inch Wingspan With Operating Landing Gear For R/C or Free Flight

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Purchased new on March 31, 1966 in a hobby shop on Lorain Ave, Cleveland, OH. Very nicely produced stick-and-tissue model with landing gear that operates in flight. Can be flown with rubber, electric, gas, control line or converted to RC with modern lightweight systems. Features high quality die-cut balsa sheet parts, stripwood and spars, fully formed wire landing gear struts, finished wheels, other wood and metal stock as required, light plastic nose cowl, spinner and other details, beautiful clear vacuformed one-piece cabin window set (still mint not yellowed), rubber motor, plastic prop, a big decals sheet that includes registration, Bonanza ID trim and full side strips as shown, covering tissue and excellent full size plans with detailed instructions. Never started and complete. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be 'deluxe' as they had the action features and were much nicer than most other kits of this type.
