Sterling Taylorcraft - 21 Inch Wingspan Flying Aircraft, Peanut, K5

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

A well engineered, highly prefabricated model featuring all die-cut quality balsa parts, a large number of completely formed parts including fuselage sides, top and bottom, wing sheet covers, tail feathers, etc, finished wheels, plastic cowl & prop, rubber motor, hardware set, clear window material, colored tissue, color decals, full size plan and separate teaching instructions sheet. The kit has never been started. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the sealed bags. The parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete including decals and instructions. The Taylorcraft BF12-65 was first manufactured in Alliance, Ohio in 1941. Many of these sharp looking airplanes have been kept in great condition by faithful owners across the country. The Taylorcraft was easy to fly and very forgiving. The glide ratio was an impressive 22 to 1. With the 65 hp Franklin engine, the aircraft has a cruising speed of 96 mph and a top speed of 112 mph. My father's first aircraft was a used Taylorcraft. He purchased it around 1954 while he was in high school. The airport manager allowed him to make payment, which he did by working as a delivery boy for the local grocery store and by waxing cars at $5 each. The airplane still exists and is flown today from it's base in New York.

Topping North American Aviation A3J-1 Vigilante - Factory Desktop Model In The Original North American Box

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Amazingly rare, 1950s NOS Topping A3J-1 Vigilante still in the North American Aviation blue and gold box. The model, the stand, all interior cardboard packing material, special packing tissue and even the Topping final inspection paper ticket are intact and never disturbed or removed until I inspected it. Topping shipped this to North American, who then shipped them to contractors, test pilots and Navy Decision Makers. Inside, all of the factory cardboard and packing tissue is still intact and like new. The stand and aircraft were never displayed or used. The gloss and shine on both are fantastic. There are no cracks, no breaks and no repairs. Decals and factory paint are all in 'near mint++' condition. This is a big model; the wing span is about 10 inches and the length about 13 inches. This model is in NOS, never used condition but please note that these models never left the factory 'flawless.' There were always minor factory paint flaws and minor molding flaws as these were mass-produced. Furthermore, the decals inevitably have some yellowing, although this example has very minimal yellowing. Because the original North Amereican box is virtually never seen and adds significantly to the value, it will be carefully packed into another box for shipping. Shipping insurance is required.

Aurora Fokker DR-1 Triplane - Marfred von Richthofen Or Unknown Pilot From Jasta 26, 1/48, 750

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

This 1976 issue is Aurora's much improved 'mold update' which was performed on many of the WWI kit line. First issued from 1956 with square Northern Lights logo, this kit was made much more accurate. Features a good cockpit, pilot, detailed engine, excellent rigging instructions, a fine fabric texture to the proper parts, no outlines for markings placement and improved decals for two different aircraft, as well as a very good paint guide. For Aurora however, it was too late and the company shortly went under. Molded in a much more realistic red and with an improved decal sheet. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.
