Comet Taylorcraft - 54 inch Wingspan Flying Model for RC, 3505

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Sold

1970s very large scale kit with 54 inch wingspan. For rubber or gas free flight or RC (radio control). This is a reissue of a much older Comet kit. Kit features traditional wood/tissue construction with high-quality balsa pre-cut stringers, balsa printwood, detailed full size plans, building instructions, wheels, rubber, tissue and propeller. The model has not been started. The parts are still sealed in the internal factory bag and includes instructions. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Airfix IL-2M3 Stormovik Craftmaster Issue, 1/72, 12-49

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Dramatic Craftmaster artwork of an Il-2M3 attacking train tracks and a locomotive. The legendary Stormovik gave the Germans nothing but trouble on the Eastern Front. Designed as a heavily armed single seat or dual seat attack aircraft, the Stormovik was very difficult to shoot down; even then if the pilot could crash land it, he had an excellent chance of walking away and flying again the next day. Il-2M3s endlessly attacked German forward and rear positions effectively and in large numbers till the end of the war. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Pyro Gee-T 1/16 Scale Custom Show Car, 1/16, C184-400

Rare. Pyro made an extensive line of classic cars in 1/32, but the 1/16 scale series are seldom seen. Very nicely detailed and well molded kit. The kit builds up a rolling chassis just like the actual car. Features very well detailed engine with ignition wires, 6 single barrel carburetors, magneto ignition, excellent suspension, drive line and steering linkage detail, full interior with opening drivers side door, optional clear top as on the box cover, custom exhaust and rims, real rubber tires and much more. Molded in gloss blue, black, clear and with two very large trees of beautifully chromed parts in like-new condition. The kit has not been started. All parts are still sealed in the internal factory bags. Includes instructions in excellent condition. NOTE: the decal sheet is included, but no designs are left as the decals have peeled off. The box appears better than it is graded and is intact with four solid corners. I have graded it 'Poor' due to moisture damage, dirt and torn/peeling litho, especially on the sides.

Hawk Supermarine S6B, 1/48, 700

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair-

Sold

Very rare kit for the advanced collector. The Hawk model company was the most innovative in America and had been making constant 1/48 scale models in wood with metal accessories since the late 1920s. During the re-run of the World's Fair in 1933, Hawk may have made the world's first injection molded airplanes models - but they were not kits. The models were completely finished and were on display for the then-large sum of $25 each. The Mates brothers, who founded and ran Hawk, were quick to incorporate this new technology by replacing the metal detail parts with injection molded details to the wooden kits in the late 1930s. During the war, Hawk put it's injection molding knowledge to work making ID models for the US Armed Forces. Originally there was a nation-wide program to have children and adults make these from wood, but consistency was an issue - injection molded solved this problem. Immediately after WWII in 1946, Hawk made the Curtiss Racer model injection molded in black tenite. The box was a simple one-color affair. This may have been the first injection molded airplane kit produced in the USA; another contender is the Varney's PT-17. Both met a very cool reception at hobby shops. Hawk quickly changed the Curtiss box to two colors and added box artwork while molding the kit is bright yellow acetate. In 1947, Hawk approached toy stores since hobby shops were giving the kit poor promotion. The toy stores did much better. Spurred on by toy store sales in 1947, Hawk added four classic racers in 1948, all molded in acetate - the Gee Bee, Howard Ike, Laird Solution and the Supermarine S6B. Hawk made the switch to polystyrene in 1949. This kit is the one in polystyrene in about 1950 but is evidently the second box art issue as the first one showed an aircraft in the air and on the water. Like the first issue, this is a one-piece 'flip-top' box. The box is only in fair condition - there is significant wear and clear tape - but the kit inside has never been started and is in mint condition.
