Planet Models Messerschmitt Me P.1110/II - (P1110 II), 1/72, 006

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc++

$40

Still factory sealed. Limited edition high definition cast resin kit that features fine recessed panel lines, 'good' cockpit and a clear canopy. P.1101/I and /II were Messerschmitts entry into the Emergency Fighter Competition. This program was initiated when the Luftwaffe saw they had no counter to massed formations of B-29s, which they knew would arrive if the war did not end soon. Never started and all parts are still internally sealed. With instructions and decals.

Aurora Ryan X-13 Vertijet With Trailer And Launcher, 1/48, 376-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$425

Old hobby shop stock that has never been up for retail sale. Very rare kit dated 1957; first and only issue. Very nice, large-scale model for that time with a fully operational mobile operations trailer. The aircraft is molded in gloss silver & clear while the trailer/launcher is bright yellow. The kit has never been started. When you open the box, it is exactly as it left the factory down to the packing tissue paper. The silver parts (aircraft) are still in the factory sealed bag. The yellow parts and clear canopy were never factory sealed and are inventoried complete. Includes 'excellent' condition decals and instructions. The box grades 'very good' which is rare for this kit. The red color is in unusually good shape, which is rare; as you may know, it usually ages poorly. The colors are bright and vibrant, all four corners are solid with no repairs, there is no fading, no tape, no price tags and no stains. Flaws include edge wear as shown and 3 small litho chips as well as creases visible at the lower left corner and center right. Although not perfect, it is one of the best I have seen.

Revell Highway Pioneers Five Kit Gift Set - 1903 Model A Ford / 1910 Model T Ford / 1909 Stanley Steamer / 1903 Cadillac / 1900 Packard, 1/32

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$139

Very rare. From 1952 or '53. This is one of (if not) Revell's first gift set. It is Gowland-produced with no part number. Gowland designed and molded these kits as well as providing the box artwork (signed D.K. Gowland) and instructions - Revell did the marketing. Inside, the kit is correct with all cardboard dividers, all small parts still factory sealed in the correct wax paper bags, cars molded in red, black, dark blue, yellow and green, tires molded in black and correct instructions. The models have never been started. All kits have been inventoried 100% complete with all parts present. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. By the late 1910 and early '20s, many dedicated modelers were building flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. By the 1930s, the 'Aviation Craze" had taken hold of this country and kits appeared everywhere. However, it was estimated at the time that at least 80% of these were never sucessfully completed (and fewer than that flown). That changed in the early 1950s with the advent of plastics and affordable injection molding equipement. The phenomenon of the all-plastic Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles were completely molded to shape in color and could be built in an hour after dinner. When complete, they looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys...and adult males as well!

The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes illustrated instructions. This is a ship was a fascinating history. Dingyuan (or Ting Yuen / Ting Yuan. English: 'Everlasting Peace') was an ironclad battleship and the flagship of the Chinese Beiyang Fleet. She was the lead ship of the Dingyuan class, which included one other vessel, Zhenyuan, both of which were built in Germany in the early 1880s. Delivery of the two ironclads was delayed by the Sino-French War of 1884–1885. The ships were armed with a main battery of four 12 inch (305 mm) guns in a pair of gun turrets, making them the most powerful warships in East Asian waters at the time. Dingyuan served as the flagship of Admiral Ding Ruchang during her active career. In the 1880s and early 1890s, the Beiyang Fleet conducted a routine of training exercises and cruises abroad, with emphasis placed on visits to Japan to intimidate the country. The latter resulted in the Nagasaki Incident in 1886 and contributed to a rise in hostility between the two countries that culminated in the First Sino-Japanese War in 1894. She led the Chinese fleet during the Battle of the Yalu River on 17 September, where the Japanese Combined Fleet sank much of the Beiyang Fleet, though both Dingyuan and Zhenyuan survived despite numerous hits, thanks to their heavy armor. The survivors then retreated to Port Arthur for repairs, but after that city was threatened by the Japanese Army, fled to Weihaiwei. As the Japanese continued to advance, they laid siege to Weihaiwei in late January 1895. On 5 February, a Japanese torpedo boat slipped into the port and hit Dingyuan with a torpedo, inflicting serious damage. The Chinese crew were forced to beach the vessel to avoid sinking, and for the next week, Dingyuan was used as a stationary artillery battery. Japanese ground forces seized the city's coastal fortifications on 9 February, allowing their artillery to shell the ships in the harbor, which prompted Ding to surrender. Dingyuan was scuttled in the harbor on 10 February. A full-scale replica of the ship was built in Weihai in 2003 as a museum ship and in 2019, the Chinese government announced that an underwater survey had located the original vessel's wreck.
