Wilhemshaven TS Bremen (V) 1958 - (ex-Pasteur 1938), 1/250, 1000

Cardstock Paper Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$32

"Large scale, very highly detailed cardstock model. Beautifully color printed on 6 exceptionally large sheets of quality cardstock. No painting required - just build! Includes full instructions in German. Never started; nothing has been cut out and all the sheets are in excellent condition. 100% complete. NOTE: due to the very large sheets, this kit will be shipped rolled up in a tube unless you request otherwise. From Wikipedia: After a very active career as the French ocean liner Pasteur, she was acquired by North German Lloyd and renamed TS Bremen in 1957, she was extensively rebuilt at Bremer Vulkan in Bremen for approximately 65 millions DM. Her size was increased to 32,336 GRT and the load-carrying capacity with 8,700 tdw. She received new boilers and four turbines with a maximum output of 60,000 HP rendering a maximum speed of 26 knots. Economical output of 53,500 HP gave a very useful speed of 23 knots. Three 1,375 KVA generators had an output of 6,600 kilowatt. One very noticeable change was the new drop-shaped funnel, which was much more in proportion with the ship than the original tall funnel. To enhance comfort, two 4,50 m Stabilizers were fitted. In June 1959, she underwent new sea trials. The ship was very popular. She was sold January of 1972. After another refit, which changed her tonnage to 23,801 tons, the TSS Regina became the flagship of Chandris Cruises and inaugurated her Mediterranean service, calling at Limassol for the first time on May 19 and taking passengers from Cyprus to Beirut, Haifa, Heraklion, Piraeus, Katakolon, Corfu, Dubrovnik and Venice. Regina continued calling at Limassol regularly every two weeks and her cruises became extremely popular. She cruised the world until 1974, when she was laid up in Piraeus because of rising fuel costs and the loss of emigration charters to Australia. She later sank while being towed to the breakers.

Aurora Fokker DR-1 Triplane, 1/48, 750

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$26

1976 issue. This is Aurora's much improved 'mold update' that they performed on many of the WWI kit line. First issued from 1956 with square Northern Lights logo, this kit was made much more accurate. For Aurora however, it was too late and the company shortly went under. Molded in a much more realistic red and with an improved decal sheet. The kit has never been started. NOTE: missing one #22 elevator brace. Can be made from pulled sprue or stock round plastic. Inventoried with all other parts, decals and instructions present.

Aurora Boeing P-26A Peashooter, 1/43, 115-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$65

Unusual 'Big Box' issue. Please note that this box is significantly larger in length and width than the more common small box issue. other than size, the only difference is the small box has the Aurora logo on the box ends with a yellow background; on this box there is no yellow background. This issue may have come first, but that is only a guess. Regardless, it is from the early 1950s with old 'Aurora Line' rectangular logo. This kit was issued shortly after moving to the West Hempstead facility on Long Island. The side logos are the old Brooklyn style but with the new address in the lower bar. Molded in the correct glossy medium blue and clear with the early style rectangular stand, correct Tatem Company decals and the correct instructions. NOTE: the kit has minor assembly; the floor has been neatly glued to the seat support. Quality of construction is professional. There is no other assembly. NOTE: the interior cockpit pieces, engine and inside of the wheels pants have been neatly painted flat black. Quality of paint is 'excellent.' Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

MPC Concorde SST - British Airways (Airfix Molds), 1/144, 1-4733

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$24

1982 issue from quality Airfix molds. This is from the 2nd set of Airfix molds, which are the most accurate. Very finely molded and nicely detailed. The kit has never been started. The parts are all in the internal factory sealed bag. Includes decals and instructions. NOTE: I have included the Airfix decals for British Airways with this model because the original decals are intact but water damaged.

Miniature Masterpieces Covered Wagon with Two Longhorn Oxen and Pioneer Family, 1/48, K505-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$45

Rare 1954 original issue. Molded in dark wood brown. Like all Miniature Masterpieces kits, this one is very finely engraved and molded with excellent detail. The model includes detailed instructions, a rarity in the early 1950s. The kit has never been started. NOTE: missing horse that the man is riding. Inventoried with all other parts present and includes instructions. 'Miniature Masterpieces' was formed through an alliance of Lou Glasser (Revell) and Steve Adams (Adams Action Models) in 1953. Although having the appearance of an independent company, the firm was run by Revell down to the prototypes being made at the Revell plant. However, there was no evidence of the parent company on the surface. The State Coach of England was the first kit, issued in 1953. More kits of excellent quality followed. Revell completely took over the line in 1954, making the one-year original issues very rare.

Orange Crush-Revell 1910 Cadillac Limousine, 1/32

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair++

$62

Very rare kit with a fascinating history. Around 1958/59, Orange Crush of Mexico offered a promotion. They offered free, colorful, plastic model cars if you collected correctly-marked Orange Crush bottle caps. The models are 1/32 scale Revell Highway Pioneer series - although there is no mention of Revell or Lodela anywhere on the box. Orange Crush had the boxes and even the instructions specially made for them with no mention of a manufacture. They were never given numbers. The boxes were very thin and fragile cardboard. This has contributed to wear and you must be very cautious with them. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bag and the instructions are sealed in the bag as well. You could redeem your caps two ways - at the Orange Crush truck and at a Modelandia Hobby House. The box sides show the 18 cars in the series. Orange Crush also released two full-color booklets and a complete paint set for the cars. A colorful cardboard box held 7 colors of paint in glass bottles, complete with 'Orange Crush' screw-on caps! The entire promotion was done in coordination with Modelandia Hobby House which had up to 19 stores. Modelandia's name appears on each of the boxes and the paint as well. Robina S.A. was the bottler or distributor of Orange Crush in Mexico at that time. The box side lists the other 18 kits with small color pictures of each and shows three sizes of OC - Family Size (Familiar), Grand (Grande) and Normal. You could also obtain models with Titan bottle caps. Titan was also bottled by Robina and came in large (Titan) and smaller (Titancito) sizes and apparently more than one flavor. We do not know how Orange Crush had access to the plastic kits or who sealed the internal bags with the Crush instructions inside them. We can assume that it may have been Lodela, since they would have had access to the Revell molds. It is not know for how long the promotion lasted, but Orange Crush was one of the most dominant soft drinks in Mexico at that time. Here is one clue: some boxes claim that Modelandia had 13 locations; other boxes, which obviously came later on, claim 19 locations. This may indicate that this promotion went on for a significant amount of time.
